DEPARTMENT OF MASS COMM AT PLATEAU STATE UNIVERSITY HOLDS MAIDEN LECTURE, PROMOTES RESEARCH AND KNOWLEDGE SHARING

The Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Plateau State University, Bokkos, Dr Nancy Katu-Ogundimu has commended the efforts of the University’s new Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bernard towards advancing scholarship in the institution.
Speaking during the Department’s maiden lecture, the first to be hosted by the University at its old Senate Chambers, Katu-Ogundimu said that the lecture series is aimed at encouraging the conduct of quality research and knowledge sharing among teaching staff of the University as well as providing feedback mechanisms to evaluating what the Department represents.

The Department’s Head presented a paper titled FAKE NEWS PERCEPTION AND HOSTILE MEDIA BIAS: ARE THE LINES BECOMING BLURRY? encouraged staff and students of the Department to take advantage of the opportunities the academic engagement offers them for career progression and self-development.
She disclosed that; “Apart from this lecture series, my Department will soon unveil what I term Cohort Writing Groups where teams of staff whose areas of research interest align are expected to collaborate to advance the conduct of quality research for the benefit of the University and humanity at large.”

Presenting his goodwill message after the lecture, the Head of Department of Theatre Arts of the University, Dr. Solomon Obidah described the presentation as fascinating and congratulated the Department of Mass Communication for the feat recorded.

The event ended with an interactive session where students of the Department and staff of the University in attendance had the opportunity to ask questions and make contributions.
