MAY CHRISTMAS BRING PEACE, LOVE AND HAPPINESS TO OUR HOMES, AND NATION, SAYS SENATOR DIMKA

As Christians mark Christmas today, I join the Body of Christ in celebration and enjoin all to imbibe the spirit behind it.

In the light of the above, Christians have a responsibility to show love and care, sign posts that have remain the hallmarks of the season.

I am not inconsiderate of the current challenges facing the nation and what families go through in order to survive. That being said, I sincerely hope that the season will usher in peace and understanding between people and communities.

I pray that by reason of the season, the lessons of Christmas will permeate our hearts and minds through out the period and into the New Year, 2023.

MAY WE BE GUIDED ALRIGHT TO BEAR FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT THIS 2022 CHRISTMAS__Dr Soja Bewarang

MAY WE BE GUIDED ARIGHT TO BEAR FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT THIS CHRISTMAS 2022

“There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit, and the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him. The spirit of wisdom and understanding. The spirit of counsel and might. The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.” Isaiah 11:1–2

The Lord has graciously brought us to another end of the year. As we are privileged to celebrate Christmas and usher in the New Year. May we hear the words of the Angels; “FEAR NOT I BRING YOU GOOD TIDINGS OF GREAT JOY——”

And as prophesied in Isaiah
hundreds of years before the coming of Jesus, of one who had come from the line of David, a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.;

God, I pray that this Christmas and as we move into 2023 may everything I do, may your spirit lead, guide, and direct me. May your spirit of wisdom, understanding and counsel and might and knowledge. May your fear totally direct everything I think, say and do your spirit’s power in me would make me a witness just as you promised Jesus.

I pray this for every single person who reads this right now. That, first and foremost, they would trust in you, Jesus. They would trust in you to save them from their sins, to restore them to relationship with you, oh God. Then, oh God, I pray for every single person who’s reading this, who has trusted in you for the forgiveness of sins.
God, I pray that you would guide them, direct their every thought, their every word, their every desire, their every action, their every decision.

God, please help them to walk in step with your spirit, just totally following the leadership of your spirit in them. Above all else, help them to live a spiritual, spirit-filled life that they would be empowered by your spirit with boldness to share the gospel.

So God, especially at Christmas when we have opportunities, so many opportunities to talk about Jesus.
gift to all who cross your path.

Let Christmas be a true season of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

As we celebrate your coming in the fullness of the spirit 2,000 years ago, we praise you for your life in us today and we pray for the fullness of your spirit in us. In every way, we pray. In Jesus’ name, amen
HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS, A HOPEFUL AND PEACEFUL NEWYEAR

CHRISTMAS: GOVERNOR LALONG URGES COMPASSION, LOVE AND HOPE

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has joined Christians in Plateau State, Nigeria and around the world in celebrating Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ which he said is significant because of the message of hope, love and compassion it carries.

Governor Lalong in a Christmas message said the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ gave hope to mankind and restored humanity from destruction.

He said Christmas celebrations should therefore be a period where Christians demonstrate the attributes of Jesus Christ to the world and live up to his teachings by their conduct.

While rejoicing with Nigerians, he said the celebrations should not be overshadowed by challenges that the nation is passing through because there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Lalong advised Christians to extend their love to those who are underprivileged or persons of different faiths just as Jesus did during his earthy Ministry which earned him reverence and honour that is still being celebrated today.

He called on Nigerians to unite and focus on living sacrificially as well as working for the general good rather than being selfish, which is contrary to the lifestyle and teachings of Jesus Christ.

The Governor while wishing Nigerians peaceful celebrations, called for vigilance against criminals who might be planning to use the yuletide period to cause chaos and engage in activities that endanger peace and security of citizens.

GOVERNOR SIMON BAKO LALONG CHARGES CHRISTIANS TO DEMONSTRATE LOVE AS PLATEAU GOVERNMENT HOUSE CHAPEL HOSTS CHRISTMAS CAROL

By Prince Sekat, Jos

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has attended the Carol of 9 lessons at the Government House Chapel Rayfield Jos with a charge to Christians to demonstrate love to others without discrimination just as Jesus Christ did during his mission on earth.

Governor Lalong said Christmas is a season that rekindles hope despite the challenges that the nation is passing through.

He said rather than be overwhelmed, Nigerians should be strengthened by the fact that Christ came to the world to give assurance of victory and hope over evil and death.

He said “the essence of our faith as Christians is to demonstrate God’s love to one another including those who do not share the same background with us. Jesus Christ showed us this example very strongly by loving and associating with those who were considered “sinners” during mission on earth. As believers, it is our duty to ensure that we follow His footsteps by embracing people from every background and tolerating one another. So long as people are ready to abide by the laws of the land and respect the culture and traditions of Plateau State, they are welcome to live and pursue legitimate businesses in the State”.

Lalong however said those who have criminal intentions and work with the aim to destabilise society and cause pain should be rejected.

He asked the people to be wary of those who try to use religion, ethnicity and politics to create crises in the State particularly during the political season.

He also used the event to advise the citizens of the need to participate actively in the political process towards electing credible leaders.

“My brothers and sisters, this Christmas is coming at a time when political campaigns are in top gear in the country ahead of the 2023 general elections. Let me use this opportunity to remind us that we have a duty to participate in ensuring that we elect leaders that will govern us. I encourage all those who registered and have not collected their PVCs to do so as the process in ongoing. Let us also encourage our people to embrace peaceful conduct before, during and after the elections as politics is not war and should not be a trigger for violence and hatred. We know that it is God who gives power to whomsoever he pleases. Eventually those who emerge victorious will still remain our brothers and sisters and have the duty to work for the good of our State and country”.

In a Sermon, the Chaplain, Government House Chapel Rayfield Rev. Fr. Godfrey Gopep said although Christmas is celebrated globally with varying degrees of merriment, many people are yet to fully grasp the significance of the season or practice the lifestyle of Christ.

He urged Christians to accord the event its spiritual significance and work hard to share with others who are poor and underprivileged.

He asked for consolidation of peace particularly as it relates to interfaith relations especially in Plateau State where the days of agony and violence have been largely overcome.

Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Plateau State Chapter Rev. Fr. Polycarp Lubo said the essence of Christmas is for the followers of Jesus Christ to show the light that he brought to the world.

Different musical groups presented songs while the 9 lessons were taken by personalities including the Deputy Governor Prof. Sonni Tyoden and wife of the Governor Mrs. Regina Lalong.
