YUSUF ADAMU GAGDI: AS ANOTHER JOURNEY BEGINS

GAGDI: AS ANOTHER JOURNEY BEGINS…

Four years ago in 2019, the first tenure of Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi OON began for PKK.

Many people did not give him a chance, as they thought it would be business as usual.

How wrong could they have thought? They failed to see beyond what he envisaged would be the lot of his constituents.

Before long, he had shot into prominence, making things in the most unusual manner and to the glory of God.

The real meaning of the word ‘change’ found expression in his activities both in the House and in his federal constituency.

He instantly made history as the first legislator in Nigeria’s parliamentary democracy to have had his six private member bills assented by Mr. President.

He finished on a high. Thank God, the end of a matter is better than its beginning. There is nothing better than to know that it is In God We Trust!

Another journey began June 13, 2023. He had said repeatedly after winning the second term election that he will surpass what was done in his first term.

PKK stoutly believes him. He has never been a member of the League of Failures.

Lately, until June 10, 2023, he was the lead contender for the position of Speaker, House of Representatives for the 10th Assembly.

He ran a robust campaign on the slogan: One Nation, Forward Together, insisting all sections of the nation deserve justice, equity, and fair play.

He largely succeeded as he, in particular, successfully delivered to the nation a message of hope and faith in our corporate existence.

Many have lashed at him after the President, a man, Gagdi has enormous respect for intervened to save the leadership contest going haywire.

He did not jump ship and or renounced a worthy cause, rather, he sacrificed the cause for a better tomorrow.

It is in the sacrifice that a voice was found for the cause. His status can not therefore be diminished because of it.

Commisioners who served under the immediate past Governor of Plateau State Simon Bako Lalong have pledged their continued loyalty to him as their political leader and also assured that they will continue to work for the peace, progress and stability of Plateau State as well as the success of the APC.

The Commisioners who were led by their Chairman and former Commisioner for Information and Communication Hon. Dan Manjang gave the assurance when they met with the Governor in Abuja.

Dan Manjang told Governor Lalong that they were on a visit to once again thank him for the opportunity to serve the people of Plateau State under his leadership, describing the period as a memorable experience that they will not forget in a hurry.

He said “we enjoyed working with you because you did not only appoint us to serve, but supported us and respected our views towards government policies and its implementation. You trusted us and never refused to listen to us whenever we needed your attention. You are an uncommon leader whose humility is second to none. You did so much despite the challenges you passed through yet some people castigated and maligned you because of politics. But it is gratifying to note that people are already missing you in Plateau State less than a month since you left. Indeed it is true that you never know what you have untill you lose it”.

Manjang said they will remain loyal to Lalong not because of political convenience but because he has shown capacity to lead without seeking personal gains. Rather, he is always working for the good of the people. He said already, the legacies of the Rescue Administration of Governor Lalong are speaking loudly for him across Plateau State depsite the fact that he is out of office.

The Commisioners prayed God to continue to grant the Governor good health and many more opportunities to serve Nigeria just as he did in Plateau State. They said having led the campaigns of the APC to produce President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, they are convinced that he will ensure that Plateau plays a greater role in national politics.

While responding, the former Plateau State Governor described their visit as heartwarming and said he cherished working with them under an atmosphere of peace, intelligent discourse and commitment to impact the lives of the people.

He said having played his part in serving the people of Plateau State with their support and collaboration, he was satisfied that his administration was not self seeking or one that focused on self enrichment.

Lalong assured them that his interest for the development of Plateau remains very paramount, but his immediate focus now is to see how Plateau can be given its rightful place in national politics under the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is passionate about Plateau.

He appealed to them to also continue to play their part in praying for Plateau State and ensuring that peace and stability prevails.

DEMOCRACY DAY CELEBRATION: I INHERITED N11 BILLION UNPAID SALARIES __GOV MUTFWANG

By Freelance Reporters, Jos

The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, on Monday, said that the immediate past administration led by Simon Lalong left a debt burden to the tune of N11 billion as unpaid salaries of workers.

Mutfwang disclosed this on Monday in Jos while addressing the citizens during an event organised by the state-owned media in conjunction with the office of the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor to mark the Democracy Day celebration.

He said out of a wage of N2.9bn for the month of February 2023, only N900 million was paid to the workers by the past administration.

The Governor said “Over the years, Plateau state had deviated from the right paths and that is why we decided to steer the state to the right. With the little we have seen since taking over, there is a lot of work to be done. We inherited a civil service on strike. Out of a wage of N2.9bn for February 2023, only N900 million was paid. As of now, I can tell the people of Plateau state without politicking that we are owing salaries up to May to the tune of N11bn and what we inherited in the coffers of the Plateau state Government is N1.1bn”

The Governor said he did not pressurise the workers who are currently on strike to return to their duty posts because he was sourcing for money to enable him to pay them their entitlements before they could resume by the end of the month.

He also clarified that he did not sack the workers recruited into the civil service by his predecessor but only suspended them to pave the way for investigation because of irregularities perpetrated by the past government during their recruitment.

“We did not sack the workers but only suspended the recruitment exercise because we discovered that some of them who were employed by the past administration had their employment letters backdated. This is wrong. So, we are investigating the matter to ensure that laid down rules and regulations are followed,” the governor stated.

TRUST RESTORED: NIGERIANS RALLY BEHIND TINUBU’S DECISIVE POLICIES FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE

By Freelance Reporters, Jos

In the wake of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidency, Nigerians are expressing their confidence in his ability to implement decisive policies that will drive the country towards sustainable growth. These policies, characterized by their specificity and impact, are set to address significant challenges and bring about substantial changes.

From the early days of his administration, President Tinubu has demonstrated his readiness to tackle complex problems and prioritize development, reforms, and critical societal concerns. In his inaugural speech, he boldly announced the abrupt end of fuel subsidy, citing its increasing cost as unjustifiable. Instead, he pledged to redirect the funds towards crucial areas such as infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

Remarkably, President Tinubu has garnered support from various stakeholders, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), health workers, petroleum marketers, and state governors. This unified backing speaks volumes about the confidence Nigerians have in his leadership and his commitment to making decisive policy decisions.

The removal of fuel subsidy, an issue that has historically been contentious, has been handled with remarkable transparency and satisfaction from the majority of Nigerians and stakeholders. This signifies a new era where trust is being rebuilt between the government and the people. It is a testament to the president’s ability to garner support and rally the nation behind a common goal of sustainable development.

The support given to President Tinubu reflects the high expectations placed upon him. Nigerians understand that for the nation to reclaim its lost glory, sacrifices need to be made, and decisive policies must be implemented. The president’s resolute approach has inspired confidence and instilled hope in the hearts of the people.

As the country moves forward under President Tinubu’s leadership, there is a palpable sense of optimism that Nigeria is on the right path to achieving sustainable growth. The decisive policies being pursued are set to provide clear guidelines, allocate resources effectively, and bring about the necessary changes to realize the nation’s potential.

In this new era, where much is expected, President Tinubu’s decisive policies are poised to redefine Nigeria’s trajectory, reestablish its standing on the global stage, and pave the way for a prosperous and sustainable future.

PLATEAU: GROUP CALLS ON PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU NOT TO REWARD STAKEHOLDERS WHO WORKED AGAINST APC IN PLATEAU STATE WITH POLITICAL APPOINTMENTS

Plateau – Group calls on President Tinubu not to reward stakeholders who worked against APC with political a

The Group operating under the aegis of Plateau APC Renaissance Movement ( PAPCRM) has lamented that several stakeholders in the state who participated in large scale anti party actives during the 2023 general elections are now been seen in the presidency seeking for political appointment .

The group led by its Chairman Hon George Yilji, in a statement made available to newsmen in Jos called on President Bola Tinubu to ignore those who worked against the party ( APC) in the last general elections.

The statement reads that We as a group have it on good authority that several stakeholders who worked against the party ,like Ex Governor Joshua Dariye ,the former minister of women affairs Dame Pauline Tallen , Hon Komsol Alphonsus Longgap, Hon Danyaro Sarpiya and others are now lobbying for political appointments and recently visited the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to congratulate him over his appointment.

Also not left out is the Incumbent Senator representing Plateau Central in the National Assembly, Senator Hezekiah Dimka who worked against the APC in his local government council all because he lost out in the APC Governorship Primaries .

According to the group ” Senator Dimka who is from the same local government council with the Plateau Governorship Candidate of the APC in the state Dr Nentawe Yilwatda mobilised resources and worked against his party in both the Presidential and Governorship election.

They added that “As we speak the People of his local government council especially APC members are not happy with him over his large scale anti party activities in both the Presidential and Governorship election ,thereby losing touch with the people of his LGA and Senatorial district at large .

Most of these stakeholders are the ones who betrayed the APC in Plateau ,The former minister of women affairs Dame Pauline Tallen and Incumbent Senator representing Plateau South Dame Nora Ladi Daduut all worked against the APC in the Presidential election because they said their faith as a members of the Papal knight would not allow them vote or work for the victory of a Muslim/Muslim ticket.

We have it on good authority that Dame Pauline Tallen who was then Minister for women affairs mobilised resources and worked against the APC in the Presidential election as she worked for the Presidential Candidate of the Labour party Peter Obi ,as she was seen sharing rice and other campaign materials calling on her supporters to work for the Labour party .

Also we have it on record that she worked for the People’s Democratic Party ,during the Governorship election in the state ,the poor performance of the APC in Plateau state was as a result of this anti party activities from critical stakeholders of APC in Plateau state .

For Dame Nora Daduut it could be recalled that her convoy came under attack in Namu Community in Quanpan local government council recently because of her anti party activities ,as she was booed for working against her party by APC members.

As a group ,we are aware of the anti party activities of Former Minister of State for Information , Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki Nakande who worked for the People’s Democratic Party both at the Presidential and Governorship election in Plateau to the extent that he wrote a letter of support to the Plateau state chapter of the PDP as reported by some national dailies.

We want to call the attention of our President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the anti party activities of Dr Danyaro Sarpiya, an aspirant in the APC primaries in Plateau who dragged the APC to court and frustrated the party in the build up to the election inorder to have his kinsman who is the Candidate of the PDP to emerge victorious at the polls.

According to the group, “Hon Sarpiya frustrated all efforts carried out by the state APC to broker peace in the party ,before the Presidential and Governorship polls.
