RT HON YIPMONG INTERFACED WITH PARTY EXCO, ATTENDS SEVERAL EVENTS IN KANAM LGA.

Plateau State Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Saleh shehu Yipmong was yesterday the 10th of April in Kanam local government to interface with APC officials, APC elders and other relevant stakeholders to chart the way forward for the party and to declare his official intention to run for the office of central zone senate.

On arrival in Kanam, the lawmaker moved to the venue of an event organized by JIBWIS Dengi branch for the enhancement of Islamic knowledge among youths, where he fulfilled a promise made to them and further donated a handsome amount of money to be given as cash prize.

Deputy speaker Yipmong zoomed off to the venue of the wedding of Pangkwal Gumshar, Alh Abdulrasheed Muhammed. He prayed and wished the monarch a happy and fruitful marriage.

The Kanam political leader moved straight to his residence where party EXCO, elders and youths were on ground waiting for him. Yipmong said his desire to contest for the senatorial seat was borne out of his desire to give quality representation to the people of central zone. He says as a state lawmaker and a principal officer, legislative activities wouldn’t be new to him due to the much vast of experience acquired, thus; he will do his best to represent his dear senatorial zone if given the chance.

He further called on the people to put God first ahead of everything because he alone knows our heart and grant victory to whoever deems fit. He says his aspiration is a divine one and ask the people to always pray for God to guide and protect his path because his success doesn’t depends on the failure of another. He addressed all the APC chieftains in strata and gave cash sum of money to cover logistics and cost of transportation to their various destinations.

Finally, Rt Hon Yipmong moved to his village, Kunkyam where he paid homage to his father, the Pangkwal Yipmong, seek blessings for the journey ahead and visit bereaved families within his community. He urged them to take heart and give God the glory in whatsoever situation they find themselves. He prayed with them and wish all the faithfuls departed through the mercy of God to rest in peace.

Kor, the Belning Ward Headquarters was agog today as APC stakeholders met to deliberate on the progress of the party and to discuss most important issues that need urgent attention by the party at the Ward level.
The Ward Chairman of the party, Hon. Nde Yakubu Yilji, in his welcome address thanked the party EXCO and stakeholders for believing in the party leadership at the Ward level and doing all it could to have come thus far. He equally read the achievements the party led officials had successfuly achieved, which includes :
-The successful registration/revalidation of old and new party members at the Ward,
-The continues fellowship of the party to its members and the ward as a discreet united entity of the people
-Maintaining sanity and respect to the party
-Projecting the party as the symbol of national impact and value to the people at the ward Level.
He also apologized on behalf of the Ward officials, for wherever they failed to live up to the expectations of the people.
Stakeholders took time to speak on various factors that can enhence the progress of the party sort out issues and most importantly maintain the leadership of the country, state, constituency local government and the ward, among them are: the Honorable Councilor Representing the good people of Belning Ward at the Local Government Council, Hon. Hosea Dunka took time to inform stakeholders on his activities as the Councilor of the Ward which includes: The construction of three class rooms and office at Hikmuram amongst others.
Prince Rotdunna Sekat who is the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Rt. Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi took his time to explain clearly the activities of his boss, informing the house by reiteration, the construction of Three Classrooms with complete furnishings at GSS Kor, the empowerment of more than a hundred people from the Ward including party officials, he announced to the stakeholders of the intention of Rt. Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi to construct Boreholes at each polling unit in the Ward and the plan to showcase the mother of all empowerments that will come up soon in PKK . Thus, which will take on a sphere of five people from each polling unit to be empowered. Prince Rotdunna Sekat also informed the Ward stakeholders that Rt. Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi (his boss) is set to contest for PKK for the second time in 2023. Engolved with his desire to bring best and more the devidence that the constituency has long been swept off unpatriotically.
Hon. Philip Peter Dasun took time to present his scorecards to the stakeholders, amongst his achievements, Dasun reiterated to the stakeholders the attraction of the construction of Gung-Koplok Road, took over from community the construction of PHC Clinic, Hikmuram, renovated some classrooms at LGEA Primary School Tayin which the painting work will be completed on or before Friday to be handed over to the School,among other projects that will soon be flagged off in the Ward. Hon. Philip Peter Dasun informed Belning Ward stakeholders that this year’s Constituency Project will be fertilizer supply, therefore, he will make sure that his home, Belning Ward gets the chunk of it which is going to be free, at the end of his speech, he informed stakeholders of his intentions to contest for PKK comes 2023.

The President of National Association of Plateau State students FCE Pankshin chapter today in company of the Association patron Mr Mwangvwat Kefas and some other exco and members of the organisation were at the Rafield residence of the member Representing Pankshin, Kanke, Kanam federal constituency Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi and collected the 406 he pledged to the association.

Recall that some weeks ago during the NAPSS cultural day celebration at FCE Pankshin, the member gave the association 1 million Naira to complete their project, 500,000 Naira for all the cultural troupes and a 406 Peugeot car for the use of the association.

While presenting the vehicle today, the member emphasized his love and commitment to FCE Pankshin being it his Alma mater and for his strong desire towards the development and progress of the youths and students.

He called on the association to make the best use of the vehicle. The President expressed and extend the association’s appreciation and gratitude to the Honourable member for his benevolence and absolute commitment towards the progress and development of PKK. He reiterated their resolve to always partner and support the member as he continue to dish out people centered representation.

The presentation of the vehicle was witnessed by many youths that cut across the state.

The Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Navy, alongside the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and the State Commissioner for Special Duties, were among dignitaries that received the speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, at the Heipang Airport earlier today.

The Speaker, who was in company of the House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Defense, Hon. Jimi Benson, his beloved mother and siblings who landed in Jos around 6:30 in the evening, were on a one day private visit, to attend the 1 year anniversary of his late mother inlaw.

Gagdi who came to Jos a day earlier, alongside the speaker’s wife in preparation for the thanksgiving service tomorrow, was seen in high spirits exchanging pleasantries with dignitaries at the airport.

The speaker, with his entourage, is expected to leave the state tomorrow after the thanksgiving service of his late mother inlaw.

Meanwhile, the state government is playing host to the speaker and his entourage as VIP guests of the state.

GOVERNOR LALONG SADDENED BY KILLING OF 8 MINERS IN JOS SOUTH LGA, TASKS SECURITY AGENCIES TO FISH OUT PERPETRATORS.

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has expressed sadness over an attack on a mining site in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area which left 8 people dead.

Governor Lalong while reacting to the incident expressed anger over what he described as another desperate attempt by criminals to destabilise the State and create fear among the people.

He said the Government will not condone such attacks on innocent citizens, and directed security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of this dastardly act which is capable of disrupting the substantial peace prevailing in the State.

While commiserating with the families of those who were killed and those who sustained injuries, Lalong reiterated his charge to security agencies to resolve suh attacks as excuses of “unknown gunmen” will no longer be tolerated.

Governor Lalong also advised the citizens to assist law enforcement agencies with useful intelligence, leveraging on structures such as the Traditional Institutions, Community Police Constabulary, vigilante groups and other associations.

NORTHERN GOVERNORS TASK ACTING IG ON PROACTIVE SECURITY MEASURES

The Northern Governors Forum has congratulated the Acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba over his recent appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari, urging him to pay attention to proactive measures in tackling crime in the country.

Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Plateau State Simon Bako Lalong in a statement said the appointment of the Acting IGP is well deserved considering his track record of diligent service to the nation across various police formations in the country.

While wishing him a successful tenure, Governor Lalong said the Northern Governors Forum will accord him all the necessary support to enable him provide the leadership needed for proactive policing that deters crime, effectively tracks criminals and generally attracts the goodwill of the public.

He said “as Northern Governors, we remain committed to Community Policing and any other measure that will lead to securing our region which has been bedeviled by different forms of insecurity. We must work together to adopt new measures that will not only enable us overcome these challenges, but also remain on top of the situation by preventing criminals from carrying out their nefarious activities”.

Lalong said the Northern Governors are particularly concerned that the farming season is at hand and many farmers may be discouraged from cultivating their farms if crimes such as banditary, kidnapping and insurgency are not brought to and end.

The Northern Governors Forum Chairman called on Nigerians to support the Acting IGP and the entire security architecture for a more secure nation.

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has warned against vandalising public property, as those who are engaged in such acts will be fished out and punished.

The Governor stated this on Saturday 10th April 2021 while on a spot inspection of a breached water pipe along Rayfield -Bukuru road.

The Governor who expressed anger over the waste of water due to the activities of persons cutting corners to tap from public water supply lines said such action was not only selfish and criminal, but capable of denying many citizens portable water.

The Governor directed the Commissioner of water resources and GM Water Board to immediately investigate those behind the pipe breach and ensure that they bear the cost of the repairs in addition to facing prosecution.

He urged all citizens to support Government by looking after the facilities within their domains and also report any act of vandalism to security agencies and relevant government agencies.

TENSION IN BENUE COMMUNITY AS 10 MISSING SOLDIERS ARE FOUND DEAD

No fewer than 10 troops of Nigerian Army and one military police officer have been found dead in Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State.

The development generated tension in the community as the army authorities deployed troops to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act.


In a statement made available to journalists, Nigerian Army spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Yerima, confirmed the killings of the troops by yet-to-be-identified individuals.

Yerima explained that the bodies of slain troops were immediately evacuated, adding that efforts are ongoing to track down those who perpetrated the crime in order to bring them to justice.

He said, ”Nigerian Army troops operating in Benue State came under attack while on routine operational task.

”The troops comprising one officer and ten soldiers were initially declared missing which prompted the deployment of a joint search and rescue team comprising NA troops and personnel of Operation Whirl Stroke.

”The search and rescue team unfortunately found all the missing troops dead in Konshisha LGA of Benue State.

”While the bodies of the slain troops were evacuated immediately, efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators of this heinous crime with a view to bringing them to Justice.”

The Nigerian Army, however, appealed to the public to volunteer useful information that will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

Yerima maintained that Army remains determined to ensure that the unprovoked attack does not disrupt the general peace being enjoyed by the local inhabitants.

According to him, the COAS has directed commanders on the ground to ensure sustained efforts in order to fish out and deal decisively with these bad elements who are threatening the peace in the area.

A soldier has refuted the claim that the military killed over 70 innocent persons in Benue State.

At a press conference on Friday, the people of Mbator in Shangev-Tiev of Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, said while more than 70 innocent persons were killed, 100 got missing during aerial and ground bombardments by troops.

The villagers appealed to the Federal Government to order the military to halt the killings, saying they are planning to storm more villages.

Freelance Reporters had reported how the military invaded the communities after 11 soldiers were killed in an ambush.

Contacted to comment on the villagers’ allegation, Major General Adeyemi Yekini, Force Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), referred our correspondent to the Media unit of the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

But a soldier, who pleaded anonymity, dismissed the claim of the villagers, challenging them to substantiate the claim.

He told our correspondent that the soldiers killed belonged to the 72 battalion, Special Forces of the Nigerian Army.

The soldier said apart from 12 militia “neutralised on Wednesday”, no one else has been killed”.

He said rifles of the deceased soldiers were recovered from the suspects who were shot dead.

“Those claiming that 70 persons were killed by the soldiers should prove it with the dead bodies or show us the graves where they were buried. Where are the dead bodies.”

Governor Samuel Ortom has asked the villagers who seized the weapons of the military to return them.

JUST IN:RETURN MILITARY WEAPONS WITHOUT DELAY, ORTOM TELLS RESIDENTS UNDER ATTACK

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Friday directed leaders of Konshisha community to prevail those who took away military weapons to return them without further delay.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Makurdi, the state capital, on Friday, Ortom called on the military as well as other parties to the ongoing crisis in the area to restrain themselves.

“Following the crisis between communities in Konshisha and Oju Local Government Areas resulting in the current military operation in some communities, I, on behalf of Benue State Government, call for restraint on all sides including the military.

“I have already directed leaders of the affected areas to ensure that the weapons the bandits took away from the military personnel deployed to bring peace between the warring communities are retuned without delay.

“I further urge members of those communities to expose perpetrators of the unprovoked attacks on the military as such an act is condemnable and also capable of jeopardizing the efforts Government has made to guarantee the return of peace to the area.

“I however urge the military to avoid civilian casualties and protect law abiding people while efforts are on to recover their missing weapons,” the governor said.

Affected residents had said more than 70 innocent persons were killed during an invasion by the military.
