GOVERNOR SIMON BAKO LALONG SECURES LICENCE FOR RAPID ENROLLMENT OF PLATEAU CITIZENS TO NATIONAL DATABASE

PRESS STATEMENT

GOVERNOR LALONG SECURES LICENCE FOR RAPID ENROLMENT OF PLATEAU CITIZENS TO NATIONAL DATABASE.

Following the challenges faced by citizens of Plateau State in enrolling for the National Identity Number (NIN) as a result of few enrolment centres, Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has secured the licensing of Plateau State as a service provider for the enrolment of Nigerians residing in the State.

The approval which was conveyed to the Governor by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy through the Director General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. Aliyu Aziz, indicates that the Plateau State Government can now participate in the registration of citizens of the State into the national identity database in line with the provisions of the NIMC Act and other guidelines issued.

Reacting to the development, Governor Lalong said he was excited that the State secured the approval which will not only reduce the hardship faced by citizens in obtaining the NIN number due to the few centres available in the State, but will also help the State ensure that all its citizens are captured into the national identity ecosystem.

The Governor said “now that Plateau State has been granted the licence to provide data capture and enrolment services for the issuance of the National Identity Number, we are going to ensure that we create centres in all the 17 Local Government Areas and other strategic towns in order to ensure seamless, quick and efficient enrollment of all our citizens and other Nigerians residing in the State”.

He therefore directed the Commissioner for Science and Technology to immediately work with the Plateau State Information & Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA) to further liaise with NIMC towards finalizing arrangements and acquiring the necessary equipment for the successful implementation of the programme.

Lalong also mandated them to ensure that arrangement for suitable facilities are made and training of requisite manpower is done in record time in order to guarantee excellence enrollment of eligible persons within the State into the Nigerian Digital Ecosystem.

Governor Lalong therefore uses the opportunity to appeal to the citizens of Plateau State to exercise more patience while the process in completed and the facilities put on ground for the commencement of the enrollment services throughout the State. He also wants them to cooperate with the officials during the exercise and provide accurate data to avoid complications afterwards.

The licence granted to Plateau State is for one year and is subject to renewal upon satisfactory performance during the period.

APC FAILED NIGERIANS ON SECURITY__SOLOMON DALUNG

Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung has said that the All Progressive Congress (APC) has failed on its promises to address the remnant insecurity challenges in the country, particularly in the North.

Solomon Dalung who served as a minister during the first tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari said one of the major promises of the party was to address the problem of insecurity which it has failed to deliver.

ACF to Southwest governors: Apprehend attackers of Fulani now
Quit notice: Youths attack Fulani communities in Oyo
Speaking on Hausa service of the BBC on Saturday, Dalung said the APC has since lost its reputation in the eye of Nigerians, adding that nobody will trust the party again until changes are made.

“What type of government is this that you have to pay bandits before they allow you to go to farm? What will be the future of the North if you have to pay bandits for you to access your own farm?

“Now it is not easy for one to travel in the North. The security challenges have put doubts and fear in many people. For you to travel now you have to pray and fast for your safe return,” he said.

He added that this had never happened in the history of the country.

“We struggled for this government to come to power but it could not satisfy our needs. We have said the truth on the past governments and this is our government and we have to say the truth no matter what. It is our responsibility to tell our government the truth.”

He said APC as a party is presently dwindling and that effort has to be made to rescue it from collapse, adding that “I am now an old member of the party. I’m waiting for new registration to commence so that I will register myself again.”

TRIBUTE TO OUR WORLD BEST CHAIRMAN OF JOS SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL, DA HON. JAMES DUNG HARUNA (2004-2007)

TRIBUTE TO OUR WORLD BEST CHAIRMAN OF JOS SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL DA. HON. JAMES DUNG HARUNA (2004– 2007)

Good Night to a colossus, Pathfinder and a trailblazer, the very best to have presided over Jos- South Local Government Council. What a privilege and great honor to have worked closely with you under oath to God and the people to faithfully and selflessly serve the very interest of the masses at the grassroot.

Under your leadership, we paid 90% backlogged of 16 months salaries arrears of workers, inherited from past administrations and cleared up salaries and liabilities of past Executive and Legislative Arms. Contractual liabilities of various contractors were also settled.

In 2005 having set the Council in the right footing and on track, Da. J. D Haruna’s Administration introduced payment of salaries on or before 25th of each month with the aid of WEMA Bank of Nigeria PLC Jos Branch. Payment of Counter part Funding for FADAMA TWO PROJECT for our teaming masses to benefit and also the establishment of Drugs Revolving Funds for effective delivery of Primary Health Care in P.H.C Department.

Still yet, in addressing the needs and meeting the yearnings of our people, the Administration constructed the Bukuru Bye pass to decongest and ease movements of vehicle and for security concerns in Bukuru metropolises. The administration also introduced the Wards Development Projects, which witnessed massive and rapid growth and development across Jos South Local Government Area, with Constructions and Renovations of Health facilities, Schools, Town Halls, Bridges and Box coverts; Electrification and Installation of Transformers, Grading of fedder Roads, Provisions of bore holes, Wells, extension of Tap water and construction of school desks amongst so many other people oriented projects.

With your exit, memory reminds us how we worked tirelessly to provide adequate and accurate data for effeccient planning and to press home our demands against 0% percent allocation to the Local Government Council. That singular act led to the increase in our monthly Allocation Revenues from the federal account by Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission, obviously the rewards and gains of a determined leader.

Under your pragmatic leadership and watch, we established the Conflict Resolution and Peace Management Center through A Bye Law no. 4 2005 with the consultancy of Barr. Ali Aku which became the first of its kind in the history of Local Government Administration in Nigeria. We equally passed several Bye Laws to address the socio-economy development of the L. G. A, such as;
A Bye Law for the Management of Parks and Markets, Collection of Revenue and A Bye Law on Tenetment Rates which if carefully harnessed and effectively implemented, Jos South L. G. A can survive on its own, discharging her obligations even without Revenues Allocation from Federation Account.

In the light of the positive impact of your leadership, with so much achievements recorded to your credit, one can only make an attempt to itemize. Little wonder, you were Nominated, Assessed and Awarded as one of the Best Chairman in Nigeria in 2006 by The Senate Committee On State and Local Government Council.
Indeed Dara, you were focused and humble; you epitomized unity and love. A visionary, and a fountain of knowledge and wisdom with so much charisma. Your legacies are indelible on the sands of time. Your carefully thought out plans for the peace, prosperity, growth and development of Jos South, Berom Nation, Plateau State, Nigeria and humanity would never be forgotten but greatly missed by all and sundry. As proteges, we make a commitment to continue from where you stopped by the special grace of God.

Surely, you walked upon the earth as a colossus, you print your name in gold in Jos-South not just as a politician, but as a patriot. You set an honourable path for the political and socio-economic development and prosperity of Jos South for the generation yet unborn. Dara J. D will be daily missed in time, but Heaven has gained… Live on Sir, till we all meet at Jesus feet to part no more.
Dara, pol tyang…

2023:THE IMAGE OF THE PEOPLE’S SERVANT__Written by Kankimes Alghazali Mohd

2023: THE IMAGE OF THE PEOPLE’S SERVANT

By Kankimes Alghazali Mohd

“Behavior is the mirror in which everyone shows their image” Johann Wolfgang. Image defines the character of leaders and their governments. Every government is its own image-maker – positive or negative. The image is the message. What a leader makes of his image is what the people know about it.

Every leader tries to cultivate and sustain a good public image. But as often happens, circumstances either put a shine or mud on its image. Both are up for exploitation. Those in the power loop and their cheer leaders seize on the positive image and pile it on to burnish the government image in superlative terms.

“Protect your good image from the eyes of negative viewers, who may look at your good appearance with an ugly fiendish eye, and ruin your positive qualities with their chemical infested tongues.” Michael Bassey Johnson.

The image we portray either of ourselves or other people is therefore very important to the response we get from others within social contexts. In other words, it is imperative to portray oneself in a certain light for others to take one’s actions seriously.

For those who’re not opportuned to meet Gagdi, for those who’ve heard lies against him and for those who met him once, let me portray the personality of the person behind the image and the people’s servant for clarity and better comprehension.

The person behind the image Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi is:

God-fearing: First and foremost, the best quality of Yusuf Adamu Gagdi is honesty, God-fearing and loving. A faithful and effective politician is trustworthy and reliable. Gagdi capture the essence of truth, display sincerity, and practices what he preaches. He makes decisions and accepts responsibilities for his actions and his words. He believed that God Almighty will question him on the day of judgment about the ways and manner he pilots the affairs of his constituents.

Thick skin for criticism: Gagdi is determined line a laser beam on delivering dividend of democracy to his Constituents. He listen to criticism, ignore baseless ones and respond objectively were necessary. One thing I like about Gagdi is that he never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that he is persecuted whenever he is contradicted.

Integrity: If integrity was a person Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi would have been. Integrity lies in, doing what one speaks; speaking what one does. Hon. Gagdi’s integrity is unquestionable. In a country where most people would sell their mother and father, spilt innocent blood and sweat and worship at Okija shrine and other evil alters to get wealth, this simple, God fearing leader exposed budget padding in Federal Road Maintenance Agency(FERMA) Appropriation Bill 2021 instead of comprising the padding to obtain his lion share.

Honesty: He is an honest man. My late father, that stern educationist, who ran the home and the schools he administered with an iron hand, used to tell us: “Honesty is the best policy.” That was true over 20 years ago when he drummed it into our ears, and it is still true today. And will remain true tomorrow, and forever. Honesty is the cornerstone of all success, without which confidence and ability to perform shall cease to exist. Honesty prospers in every condition of life, no wonder Hon. Gagdi is always prospering. He is an honest man, who will tell the truth even to his own hurt.

Non discriminatory behavior: Gagdi, as a human being, had his shortcomings. Discrimination was not one of them. He would not use his exalted office to promote ethnic or sectarian agenda. His commitment to a better, united and prosperous Plateau was never in doubt. Nepotism and incompetence, now elevated to statecraft, is far from him. He had helped and secure employment to teaming youths all over the state irrespective of their political, ethnic, social, or religious inclinations. He had people he could trust from all parts of the country. He didn’t claim it, but he belonged to everybody.

No-nonsense attitude: You can’t get anywhere flying under the radar says Grant Cardone. What you tolerate says a lot about who you are as a person. Gagdi does not give nonsense and he certainly does not tolerate it.

Respectable demeanour: The man commands respect home and abroad, without even uttering a word. The reaction of Nigerian youths on his emergence as Chairman House Committee on navy as a first timer tells you all you need to know. Even the ‘Tanoids’ are changing their tone. His calm and composed disposition: This is one man who has consistently shown calmness and composure.

Discipline: Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments and without self-discipline, success is impossible, period. Possibly owing to his royal background, Gagdi has displayed a great deal of discipline, in how he has managed himself, his finances, his family, his electorates and associates.

Humility: He is extremely humble. He neither have pride nor being too arrogance. This again is a rare quality in most of the present day leaders. They are proud and arrogant. He is clearly not interested in the frills or flounces of this world, Gagdi has shown himself to be a man uninterested in the typical flashy lifestyle of many affluent Nigerians but rather content with what he has.

Love for his constituency: Indeed, Hon. Gagdi has become legendary for showing limitless benevolence to the downtrodden, associates, colleagues and practical display of immense love and compassion to everyone that has crossed his path in life.

Gagdi is a man who genuinely wishes to see things improve in PKK. He stood on the side of the people, toiling day and night to make their lives better. He demonstrated the love my securing employment to more than one two hundred and eighty four graduates within the constituency. He further empowered more than two hundred people with motorized hand pump, sewing machine, grinding machine, motorcycles, fertilizer to ease their sufferings. A record unprecedented in the history of the constituency.

Audacity: Having followed Gagdi for about five years, I can conclude that Prussian General Clausewitz, President Bush and King Prof TJT Princewill had him in mind while defining what audacity and leadership means. Yusuf Gagdi is someone who likes to tread where even angels are afraid to tread.

Determination: Carl von Clausewitz a Prussian general and influential military theorist noted famously for his military treatise Vom Kriege where he stated and I quote, “If the leader is filled with high ambition and if he pursues his aims with audacity and strength of will, he will reach them in spite of all obstacles. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi has pursued his vision with audacity and strength of will to somersault all obstacles to become one of the greatest politician on the Plateau and Nigeria at large.

Cute smile. That’s the start of opening your heart and being compassionate to others says Dalai Lama. You simply can’t beat it! He smiles to all and sundry irrespective of party, religion, tribe or clan. He uses his smile to change the world; and never let the world changes his smile.”

The image is that of a man who is a light to everyone who crosses his path, a friend to the youths, a role model to the young, honest, transparent, dependable, uncomplicated and full of wisdom, a helper to many and a visionary man bubbling with the ideals of entrenching a united, peaceful, harmonious vision for his community, constituency and the world.

Let’s Vote Gagdi again in 2023 for the continuity of the good work, selfless service, rebust leadership ideals and above all quality representation.
