RE: PUBLICATION OF MALICIUOS FALSEHOOD, DEFAMATORY STATEMENTS, INCITEFUL COMMENTS & CHARACTER ASSASINATION AGAINTS RT.HON YUSUF ADAMU GAGDI IN RE: THREAT TO PUBLIC PEACE.

I write to draw your attention to the aforementioned subject matter which impugns against the reputation of my person, the dignity of my office as a member of the Federal House of Representative and above all a threat to the peace of my constituency and the entire state being perpetrated by one Emmanuel Zopmal who is said to be a non-academic staff of the University of Jos in Plateau State.

This petition is compelling in the circumstance of publication of falsehood against my person which has remained unabated and consistent since 2015 when I served as the Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and has remained so up to my emergence as the current member of the Federal House of Representative. It is instructive to note that these series of falsehood published by the said Emmanuel Zopmal has not only assassinated and tarnished my hard earned reputation but has evoked passions, enraged my constituents and provoked public peace.

I report that the said Emmanuel Zopmal has severally sought to provoke public peace, defame and assassinate my character when he published and circulated through various social media handles with wide public access including Facebook and Whatzapp that I am a Jihadist sponsored by the Caliphate and the Muslim Governors of the North to achieve the “Islamization” of politics on the Plateau.

The criminal publications also made direct allusions to me as being “ the biggest fool”, “pathological liar satan has ever given birth to”, owner of a “stolen mandate” belonging to “Babylonian Temple”, “irresponsible idiot” with “ irresponsible lifestyle”. In addition, I have been accused by the offensive publications as a “pig”, a “dupe”, owner of “filthy money” a facilitator of election rigging and a dubious and immoral character. The publisher also crossed the threshold of decency when he accused my father of being a “magician”.

The combined import of these offensive publications which has circulated widely in the social media space is to incite my constituents and the entire state against a non-existing islamization agenda, infuse mutual suspicion amongst citizens and denigrate the dignity of my person and office.

If these false publications are handled with levity, they are capable of negative consequences considering the volatile nature of Plateau State which has become vulnerable, to political and ethno-religious sentiments in recent past. False publications supposedly intending to discredit my electoral victory in 2019 which has been adjudged and upheld in the election tribunals have a high propensity to evoke tensions, incite passions, spark political, religious and ethnic disharmony between my supporters and those of my opponents. The resultant effect of which is a possible breach of the peace.

As a responsible legislator that I am, I invite the urgent intervention of your good office in order to restrain, the continuous publications of falsehood which are capable of resulting into serious negative consequences because series of overtures made to impress on the said Emmanuel Zopmal to recant these falsehood have been outrightly rebuffed.

I am left with the lone option of seeking redress according to law which your good office is well positioned to achieve. I am well informed that the Penal Code Law contains copious provisions in anticipation of offences such as this and therefore request in line with the law that this facts be thoroughly investigated with a view to a possible prosecution.

For ease of reference, I attach herewith printed copies of some of the offensive publications.

I undertake to fully cooperate with the process of investigation as may be directed by your good office.

I anxiously await and anticipate your action on this matter.

GOVERNOR LALONG ASSURES OF COMPLETING FRSC TRAINING SCHOOL IN SHENDAM, AS DCM FUOMSUK IS DECORATED.
Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has assured that his administration will continue to develop transport infrastructure as well as ensure the completion of the Federal Road Safety Training School in Shendam so as to ensure that the personnel have a conducive environment for manpower development.
Governor Lalong stated this when he visited the headquarters of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Abuja to witness the decoration of Hygenus Fuomsuk to his new rank of Deputy Corps Marshal (DCM).
Lalong who participated in decorating the new DCM said he was glad to witness the elevation of Fomsuk, whom he described as a committed officer that has served diligently over the years.
He said “an elevation like this is an opportunity to serve Nigeria and be patriotic. Although your appointment is to represent the North Central Zone in the FRSC, you should look beyond that zone to serve with dignity and treat everyone with respect irrespective of where they come from. Nigeria is your first constituency”.
He also used the opportunity to call on the Federal Road Safety Corps to continue to work hard in assisting the fight against COVID-19 by enforcing transportation guidelines.
Earlier, the Corps Marshal Boboye Oyeyemi said the promotion of DCM Fuomsuk and others were well deserved and merited because of their track record of loyalty and dedication to duty.
He appreciated Governor Lalong for the support he has continued to give the FRSC, particularly his recent intervention towards the completion of the FRSC Training School in Shendam which he said will be completed before the end of the year.
Also decorated at the brief event was DCM Samule Obayomi from Kogi State who is proceeding on retirement leave.

DON’T THINK LIKE THE WORLD
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ,” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5.
Whenever the scripture makes reference to the world in terms of spirituality, it is talking about the people who subject their lifestyle to sin; that is, they live in disobedience to God.
We are admonished and commanded not to think like the world does. For instance, the world thinks and seeks protection from witchcraft, we are commanded not do so. The world thinks of getting riches through fraud, we are commanded not think of doing so. In short, we are not to regard evil in our hearts.
If you think like the world thinks, you will eventually act like it acts.
For unrestrained thoughts produce unrestrained actions. So control your thoughts by bringing them into obedience to the Scriptures.
As we continue our journey of faith into the second week of July let us be encouraged to program our minds in line with the Word of God.
We are reminded in the scriptures that we are not to be like people of the world who lord it over others instead of being at service to them. The people of the world exercise excessive authority with all manner of bullies to cause inferiority complex in their fellows, and push them into perpetual subserviency to gain world. The Word of God is spirit and is life. When our mind is totally saturated with the Word of God, our will becomes strong to exercise authority to overcome every ungodly thought and evil habit.
Don’t let Satan deceive you into sacrificing the glory of God in your lives for a few moments of self-indulgence and sin. Restrain your thought and be transformed by the renewal of your mind. Meditate on the Word of God instead of beclouding your mind with selfishness and other carnal thoughts. To be spiritually minded is life, while carnal mindedness is death. The Psalmist tells us; Gods word is a lamp to our feet and light to our path Psalm 119:105. When we hide God’s word in our hearts it will prevent us from sinning deliberately and consciously against God and man. Psalm 119:115
Let us run our Christian race today, this week and always by Keeping our eyes or looking ONLY unto Jesus the author and finisher of your faith.
I seize this opportunity to congratulate all Plateau citizens that are given Federal appointments by the Federal Government. We should pray for them to represent the State well at their areas of Federal assignment. And when and where employment opportunities are paved they should try to reduce the number of unemployed Youths in the State.

COLLAPSED WASE-LANTANG BRIDGE; GOVERNOR LALONG MEETS MINISTER OF WORKS.

In furtherance of his recent visit to the collapsed Wase-Lantang bridge which was affected by heavy rains, Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has met with the Minister of Works, Babatunde Raji Fashola at the Ministry’s headquarters to seek for an immediate solution.

Lalong who visited the Minister at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mabushi on Monday 6th July 2020, said the people of Wase, Langtang and others plying the road up to Taraba State are completely cut off as a result of the bridge collapse.

He said “I took a personal visit to the area to see things for myself last week and as you know, it is a Federal Road. From what I saw, it is something that needs the Federal financial might to fix. I have asked my people to provide boats as alternatives for now, but this cannot be sustained for a long time considering the economic activities that take place in the area. We need the quick intervention of the Federal Government which is why I decided to pay this visit to you”.

Lalong thanked the Federal Government for support in carrying out road projects in Plateau State, particularly the Longvel- Yelwa-Ajikamai-Ibi-Federal Road which is being constructed by the State Government with the hope of refund afterwards.
Responding, Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola sympathised with the people of Plateau State and the immediate local Governments of Wase, Lantang and other areas who have been negatively impacted by the bridge collapse.

He said already, the Federal Controller of Works in Plateau State has filed a report with a recommendation for the replacement of the bridge as the collapsed one is old. He said the Ministry has commenced design and costing of the new concrete bridge which will take two months to complete.

He directed that immediate palliative work should be carried out to restore temporary connection for people of the area while the permanent solution is being worked out.
The Minister and Governor agreed to set up a team on both sides to follow up on the intervention.

AGAIN, GOVERNOR LALONG AND FAMILY TEST NEGATIVE TO COVID-19.

For the second time, Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong, members of his family and immediate staff have tested negative to the Corona virus.
This follows another test conducted on the Governor and his household as a result of the recent cases recorded within his cabinet when a Commissioner and his Chief of Staff tested positive.
This necessitated the Governor and members of his family to subject themselves to another test on 4th July, 2020 having conducted the test in April 2020 which all turned out negative.
Reacting to the development, Governor Lalong said “I have continued to encourage people to subject themselves to Covid-19 test which is very important for us to determine the magnitude of the disease and level of the spread in order to curb further spread and treat people before they get to critical stages. Submitting myself and family to another test was therefore necessary as part of leadership by example and also responding to the recent cases of one of my Commissioners and Chief of Staff who were confirmed positive”.
The Governor who reiterated that Covid-19 is not a death sentence, advised the people to always take personal responsibility for their health and the health of others by adhering to the guidelines put in place to fight the disease such as the mandatory use of facemasks, social distancing, hand washing and the use of sanitizers.
He said so far, the testing capacity in Plateau State has increased as more people are being tested daily at the NVRI Laboratory in Vom and the TB Reference Laboratory at the Jos University Teaching Hospital. Efforts are also being made to have the testing also conducted at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital. As at 5th July 2020, about 6,000 people have been tested so far in the State.
In the meantime, the Governor has directed continued enforcement of compliance to Covid-19 guidelines particularly in public places as violators are sanctioned accordingly. He also Warns against stigmatizing infected persons, insisting that unless the disease is demystified, it will be difficult to overcome.

PRESIDENT BUHARI APPOINTS REV YAKUBU PAM EXECUTIVE SECRETARY NCPC

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Rev Yakubu Pam as the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC).

Until his appointment, Rev Pam was the Chairman of the Plateau State Christian Pilgrims Board.

Born on 20th February, 1960 in Gyel, Jos South LGA of Plateau State, Rev Pam holds a first degree in Christian Education.

As an ordained Minister, Rev Pam brings to the position more than 30 years of leadership experience in the Christian community, coupled with a deep understanding of promoting inter-religious harmony and conflict resolution in the northern parts of the country.  

The cleric has held many leadership positions in the Church, including Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) of Northern Nigeria (which includes the 19 Northern States and Abuja) from 2016 to date, Vice President, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, 2013 to date and District Superintendent, Jos mainland Assemblies of Nigeria, 2010 to date.

He also served as Chairman, Plateau State Inter-Religious Council; and Chairman, Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Committee, Plateau State.

His appointment took effect from 26th June, 2020 for a period of five years.

Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on Friday suspended the First Class Emir of Misau, Alhaji Ahmed Suleiman and two other traditional rulers over a land crisis between farmers and Fulani herders in the area.

Those suspended along with the emir are the District Head of Chiroma, Yusuf Atiku, and the Village Head of Zadawa, Bappa Ahmed.

Our correspondent gathered that nine lives were lost and many persons injured in Zadawa Village of Misau Local Government area on Monday as a result of the clash

The governor announced the suspension of the emir and the two other traditional rulers at Government House during the inauguration of a 13-man investigation panel tasked with the responsibility of identifying the cause of the clash.

Mohammed said that the suspension was to allow the panel to effectively carry out its assignment without interference.

“Following the receipt of additional petitions that we have at our disposal from some communities, we have decided to suspend the relevant traditional institutions in the area so that they will not interfere with the work of the investigation committee.

“The traditional institutions include His Royal Highness, the Emir of Misau, the District Head of Chiroma (the Chiroma Misau), the Village Head of Zadawa or his representative.

“These officers or traditional rulers are hereby suspended and they will remain in Misau; they are not allowed to go anywhere and they are to subject themselves to the Administrative Inquiry Committee pending the time it is over,” Mohammad said.

The governor stressed that the committee would investigate the cause of the happenings in Misau.

He also directed the committee to look for other communities in the area where such incident was likely to occur due to injustice and abuse of the Land-Use Act, especially lands that were confiscated from Fulani people without due regard to the law.

“I am indeed convinced with the caliber of this committee, especially its members.

“They will investigate the root cause of this unfortunate happening and other areas I mentioned, where this is likely to happen due to injustice and inequality and abuse of Land-Use Act.

“The committee would also look into abuse of land that are reserved and those that are for the Fulani people that had been confiscated without due regard to the law,” he said.

Mohammed assured the people of the state that any person or group of persons found to be directly or indirectly involved in the clash, would be dealt with in accordance with the laws of the land.

Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre Distribute Fertilizers to Displaced Persons in Mangu LGA

In order to boost food production and identify with the displaced persons across Mangu LGA, Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre Jos today distributed Fertilizers to Widows and orphans who lost their bread winners to violent crisis that affected some Communities in the area.

Presenting the Farm input, the Executive Director of the Centre, Chief Ayuba Gufwan Burki said Instead of distributing food stuffs, the centre deemed it fit to donate farm input (Fertilizers). He posited that the Centre in empathy was concerned about the plight of the people. He said the gesture is sharing in their pains and identifying with them in their trying times. He pray for more food production and better yield for the farming season. He charged them to trust God and continue to work towards the attainment of peace and security.

He said the centre will do more and continue to impact lives and the society. He charged the people to remain resilient and contribute their quota to national unity and development.

Also speaking at the event, Chairman Board of Trustees of Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre, Engr. Solomon Chikan Engr. Solomon Chikan said the input was given in love and urged them not to sell the product but use same for better yield.

President Mwaghavul Development Association (MDA), Chief Joseph Gwankat, lauded the Centre for the humanitarian gesture targeted at the most vulnerable in affected communities in the Local Government Area.
He called on government, other NGOs and well spirited individuals to emulate the kind gesture by coming to the aid of the people affected by violent crisis.
Community Head of Kulben, Da HRH Ibrahim Dayau appreciated what the centre is doing nationally and pray God to open greater doors to the Centre. He commended Chief Ayuba Gufwan Burki for the philanthropic work he is doing and for making himself available to be used of God to impact lives and the society.

The gesture saw 75 Beneficiaries getting a Bag of Fertilizer each for the farming season.

Beneficiaries who could not hide their joy applauded the Centre for identifying with them and putting smiles on their faces with the fertilizers being given to them.

The event took place at Mwaghavul Development Association (MDA) Office Complex in Mangu and was low key in line with the COVID-19 Protocols.

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has congratulated the Director General of Lalong/Buhari Campaign Organisation 2019, Architect Pam Dung Gyang as he clocks 70 years.

Governor Lalong in a congratulatory message described Architect P.D. Gyang as an astute professional, formidable politician and an elder statesman who has paid his dues in service of Plateau State and the nation.

He said, “Marking 70 years is no doubt a special moment for celebrating this illustrious son of Plateau State who left his mark in various places where he has worked until his retirement to join politics. Till date, his contributions to the development of infrastructure, particularly housing during his stint at the Plateau State Ministry of Works; Federal Controller of Works in various States; as well as the
Chairman Prototype Housing, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing continues to resonate within the system”.

Lalong also said the celebrant has continued to demonstrate statesmanship in his political career by embracing platforms and initiatives that seek to unite people of different backgrounds and also promote development of Plateau State and Nigeria.

He praised the role played by Architect Gyang towards the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 General elections both at the State and Federal levels, saying his performance serves as a mentoring standard for younger politicians.

While wishing him long life, prosperity and good health, Governor Lalong urged him to continue to avail the nation his wealth of experience at all times, especially in his current role as Chairman, Hadeija, Jama’re, Yobe River basin Trust Fund.

GOVERNOR LALONG MOURNS BARKIN LADI MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN, EZEKIEL MANDYAU.

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has expressed shock over the demise of the Management Committee Chairman, Barkin Ladi Local Government, Barr. Ezekiel Mandyau who died on Thursday evening at the Jos University Teaching Hospital where he was undergoing treatment.
Governor Lalong in a condolence message described as shocking, the death of the Chairman whom he said was a vibrant grassroots politician that connected well with his people and served them with integrity, vision and excellence.
Lalong said “This is a great loss to Plateau State because the late Barr. Mandyau played a very key role in the implementation of the Rescue Agenda in his Local Government, particularly as it relates to security and infrastructure development. Because of his leadership style, there was greater calm in Barkin Ladi as he adopted the early warning approach as well as community engagement and dialogue style to resolve issues”.
Lalong who said the State will surely miss the Late Chairman, consoled his immediate family; friends and associates; the people of Barkin Ladi; ALGON and the entire State over this sad development.
