PLATEAU GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION:GROUP ASK DR NENTAWE YILWATDA TO FORGIVE THEM FOR USING PROPAGANDA AGAINST HIM

TEXT OF PRESS A CONFERENCE BY THE REPENTANT MEMBERS OF PROPAGANDA PLUS HELD ON THE 21ST MARCH, 2023.

GENTLEMEN OF THE PRESS.

It is with a heavy heart and deep sense of remorse that I and my friends across the entire State find it necessary to address you and indeed the good people of Plateau State on certain developments that took place before and during the governorship election in our dear State.

We feel it is expedient and necessary to come out and talk in order to purge and relieve our conscience of the moral burden we have placed upon ourselves through the perpetuation of evil propaganda in the press against the people of Plateau State which skewed their minds against a particular Governorship Candidate in the race.
By and large we are here to confess our sins and also avail the people of Plateau State of certain untoward conduct and sponsored evil machinations perpetrated by us just to make sure that the APC Governorship Candidate Dr Nentawe Yilwatda did not win the election.

As a matter of fact and without any fear of indictment, reprimand or arrest by the security agencies we want to bring to public knowledge that we became willing tools and agents of blackmail and character assassinations in the hands of the PDP to bring down the most qualified and formidable Governorship Candidate, Dr Nentawe Yilwatda of the APC.

Regrettably and shamefully too, we were given inducements and the necessary backing to publish all forms of falsehood especially in the social media portraying Nentawe as an agent of the Hausa-Fulani and also cooked up a supposed pact entered into by Nentawe and Shiekh Sani Yahaya Jingre to cede some portions of the Jos main Market for him to build a Jummaat Mosque for the Izala sect.

As if that was not enough, some of us were directed to also publish that Nentawe was given humongous sum of money and huge contracts by the Kano State Government in order to prosecute his governorship furthermore we were the ones that published that one of the frontline governorship Candidate had stepped down for the PDP candidate.

Painfully too, we qmaliciously published that Nentawe, Governor Lalong, Senator Shettima Kashim, the Vice President elect and the Sultan of Sokoto met in Jos where they gave conditions for the Moslems in Plateau state to support Nentawe which he and Lalong jumped at the offer.

Gentlemen of the press, I know many people would be disappointed and surprised that some people could be that callous in bringing down someone, just in the name of democracy not minding the pains and reputational damage caused to such a person and members of his immediate family.

It would also be mind boggling and surprising to some to ask why coming at this time to make such startling revelations when the election is all over.

Yes the elections might have been over but the mental torture we are going through seem to have just began looking at the number of innocent Christians who might have believed the false propaganda which we made them believe.
We chose to come out now because of the serious spiritual and psychological torture we are going through. promptings hence the need to come out and publicly confess our misdemeanor with a view to absorbing our conscience.

Consequently I and my friends in this obnoxious and wicked assignment, we feel there is no reason for jubilations having known fully what transpired before and during the election. Worst of all is the kind of massive rigging and result manipulations that characterised the outcome of the election in some parts of the state particularly in Mangu and Jos- South local government areas.

For the first time in an election, about ninety percent turn-out of voters was recorded in the aforementioned local government areas. This to say the least is astonishing and unheard of in the political history of not only Plateau state but the country at large.

Surprisingly mutilated result sheets and over voting were accepted by INEC officials which by and large has cast shadow of doubt on the credibility of the whole process.

In conclusion let us make it abundantly clear that should the need arises, we will be willing to mention names of sponsors of this distardly conduct and action of ours.We will also tell the world all the mouth watering promises made to us in the event PDP won the governorship election.

While we are not sure of the extend that our indecent manipulation of public opinion might have influenced the voting pattern of the unsuspecting voters, we want to profoundly ask for forgiveness from Dr Nentawe, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingre, Sultan of Sokoto, Governor Lalong and the Vice President elect Senator Kashim Shettima. We are deeply sorry for all the pains we have caused them.

To the people of Plateau State, we are awfully sorry and if it is the destiny of Dr Nentawe Yilwada to be the Governor of Plateau State, God shall make a way where there is no way.

Thank you and God bless Plateau State.

Signed:
Joseph Habila

GOVERNOR LALONG INSTALLS 3 UPGRADED CHIEFS IN LANGTANG; SIGNS INTO LAW TRADITIONAL RULERS RENUMERATION BILL 2020

GOVERNOR LALONG INSTALLS 3 UPGRADED CHIEFS IN LANGTANG; SIGNS INTO LAW TRADITIONAL RULERS RENUMERATION BILL 2020.

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has performed the coronation and presentation of Staffs of Office to 3 upgraded Chiefs in Langtang North Local Government Area, their Royal Highnesses Ponzhi Bwarat, Compt. Ponfa R. Bahal Rtd (3rd Class); Ponzhi Timmwat, Hon. Nicholas S. Musa (3rd Class); and Ponzhi Gani, Col. Dauda N. Nimyel. Rtd.  (3rd Class).

Performing the ceremony in Langtang, the Governor said the presentation of Staffs of Office to the traditional rulers which began many years ago is in fulfillment of his campaign promise and goes to show that the APC keeps its words.

He said “You will agree with me that the focus we have given the traditional institution and the honour we have accorded our Royal Fathers have steered them to work hard for maintaining peace and security in their domains. Such attention has also promoted harmony within our diverse ethnic groups who now feel a sense of justice, equity, and fairness unlike in the past where they felt neglected, marginalised and oppressed.

He told that that on Wednesday, he signed into law the Plateau State Traditional Rulers Remuneration Bill 2020 which provides for the appointment, salaries, allowances and other related matters. Among other things, the Bill outlines the categorization of traditional rulers in the State and their selection process which must be in line with the native law and custom of the people.

“It also stipulates the payment of basic salaries of traditional rulers; sources of salaries and allowances; payment for traditional rulers on acting capacity; effect of court proceedings on remuneration; exclusion from remuneration; as well as payment of death benefits among others. On the whole, the Bill ensures that running the traditional institution must be within law and without unnecessary challenges particularly related to funding. I am optimistic that with the coming of this law into effect, challenges experienced in the past will no longer surface especially concerning court proceedings and selection of new traditional rulers. We hope that vacant stools will no longer remain empty as such situation does augur well for efficiency and effectiveness” he said.

The Governor also reminded the people that his respect for the traditional institution was why the Rescue Administration restored those stools that the PDP Government of Jonah Jang annulled.

He said he hopes the people will vote wisely this Saturday by supporting the APC candidate Dr. Nentawe who will mot abolish the new Chiefdoms but enhance them.

Commissoner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Hon. Sylvanus Tapgun said Governor Lalong’s passion for the peace, stability and progress of the State is clearly seen in the respect and dignity he has accorded the traditional institution in Plateau State.

The Vice Chairman of the Plateau State Council of Traditional Rulers and Emirs and Long Gamai of Gamailand HRH Miskoom Martin Shaldas III also appreciated the Governor for being consistent in his efforts to elevate the traditional institution based on the yearnings of the people.

The Acting President, Langtang Joint Traditional Council and Ponzhi Zinni HRH Nimnan Langnim said the council remains indebted to the Governor for approving the upgrade of the new Chiefdoms as well as creating new districts.

Meanwhile, the Governor had on Wednesday 15th March 2023 signed into law the Bill for the Renumeration of traditional rulers which is aimed at enhancing their salaries and allowances.

He said the Bill passed by the State House of Assembly was intended to make the traditional rulers more effective in the discharge of their duties for the good of the people.

The Governor also inspected some ongoing projects and had also stopped by in Pankshin to attend the funeral of the father of CAN Chairman Plateau State Rev. Fr. Polycarp Lubo.

10TH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY: 42 YEAR OLD GAGDI JOINS REPS’ SPEAKERSHIP RACE

Even though, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is yet to formally announce the zoning of the speakership position, other presiding and principal offices for the incoming 10th House of Representatives, more people have indicated interest in the race to become the chief lawmaker in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.

It will be recalled that Vanguard had on Monday reported that at least 5 ranking members of the House are already jostling for the House speakership.

The lawmakers included Hon. Aliyu Betara representing Biu/Kwaya federal constituency of Borno State; Aminu Sani Jaji, a former chairman of the House of Representatives committee on National Security and intelligence in the 8th Assembly who has been reelected to represent Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji federal constituency of Zamfara state; the current deputy speaker, Hon. Idris Wase from Plateau State; the current spokesman of the House, Hon. Ben Kalu and the majority leader of the 9th House, Hon. Ado Doguwa.

But the Paper can authoritatively report that the Chairman, House Committee on Navy, Hon. Yusuf Gagdi has joined the race for the top legislative job.

Gagdi, the latest entrant into the race is the member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency of Plateau State in north central geopolitical zone of Nigeria.

He was a deputy speaker of the State House of Assembly before getting elected into the House in 2019.

Vanguard recalls that upon his debut into the national parliament, Gagdi quickly got involved in the internal politics at the time, aligned with the “progressives” camp and eventually became the chairman of Navy committee, a committee ordinarily would not be given to a first timer.

Vanguard learnt that Gagdi is one of those presently clamouring hard to see that the speakership slot will be zoned to the north central to enable him formally declare his interest when the House resumes for plenary session next week Tuesday.

Born on November 5, 1980, the 42 year lawmaker had served in various other capacities before his present position which included Legislative Aide to Deputy Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly between 2003 and 2006; member of Plateau State Library Board 2012- 2014 and Chairman of Federal Board, Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority (LBRBDA Makurdi 2012 – 2014; Chairman of Special Committee on peace, security and reconciliation Plateau State 2015; Chairman Special Committee on Peace, Security and Reconciliation Plateau State 2018 and as well as Financial Secretary of PDP Plateau State 2012 – 2014.
