Plateau State Government has denied reports of five new COVID-19 positive case by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The State Commissioner for health, Dr. Ndam Lar, made this known on Friday said, “the statement by NCDC is in error, we actually had only one new case, bringing the total to 21, out of which 10 persons have been treated and discharged. We had since morning been discussing with NCDC officials over the 5 new cases; we urge the public to disregard the earlier report.”
The NCDC had early hours of Friday announced that Plateau and Gombe states have five new positive cases of covid-19 each.
But, the Health Commissioner debunked the report during the weekly briefing on the state of covid-19 in Plateau state.
He said, the state currently has 255 persons at various quarantine centers, and are being taken care of, even as revealed that 43 of new samples of suspected persons are being awaited from NCDC.
Contributing, during the press briefing, Secretary to the Government of Plateau State, ( SSG), Prof. Danladi Atu said government has decided to be strict on covid-19 rules to further avoid spread of covid-19 into the state, since most cases are imported.
Prof. Atu said 56 persons who illegally came into Plateau state from Abuja on Thursday were arrested and procecuted by the mobile court sitting in Jos south.
The Plateau state scribe expressed disappointment that despite the ban on inter state travels through Plateau state, people still came into the State.
