GOVERNOR LALONG HOLDS CONSULTATIVE MORE ENGAGEMENTS WITH STAKEHOLDERS AHEAD OF ELECTIONS

As the countdown to the general elections continues, Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong has intensified his Consultative engagements within his consituency towards ensuring that the APC achieves a resounding victory at the polls.

The Governor in company of other leaders of the party moved to the Southern Senatorial Zone on Friday having held successful zonal rallies in the Central and Northern Zones.

He met with key players of the All Progressives Congress Party from Quaanpan and Mikang Local Government Areas where he assured to offer quality representation to people of the Southern Senatorial Zone and Plateau State if elected to the Senate.

Governor Simon Lalong who was joined by other candidates and party members from the six local government areas of the Zone said there is no anxiety over the victory for the APC which has proven to be a trustworthy party.

Apart from deepening campaigns for his election bid, he also reminded them that a vote for the Party’s Presidential Candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as other contestants for the Federal House of Representatives and State Assembly within the zone is very crucial and all hands must be on deck to deliver.

In all the Local Governments visited in the Zone the sessions were interactive as Governor Simon Lalong enumerated some of the successes of the APC administration both at the state and Federal levels and solicited the people’s votes for the Presidential candidates, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his election into the Senate, and all contestants seeking offices for the Federal and State constituencies from the Zone.

He also pledged to attract people oriented projects to the people of the Southern Zone if given the mandate to go to the red Chambers just as he has done as Governor where the State has done projects in all sectors and completed many others which were abandoned by previous administrations.

Director General of the Lalong Senatorial Campaign Council, Nanven Nimfel urged the people of the Zone to go all out and ensure the people cast their ballot for the party from top to bottom

Party members at the interactive session assured the Governor of their determination to work assiduously for the victory of the APC because they cannot afford to miss the good things that the party has brought to them which will increase once the party retains power at the State and Federal levels.

The Governor on arrival had visited the palaces of the Long, Kwo Miskoom Fidelis Attahiru, Long Pan, Miskam Emmanuel Dabang and the Puntel, Donald Puntel, to seek their royal blessings for the success of the forth coming elections.

“PLATEAU WILL NOT RETURN TO OPPOSITION POLITICS” GOVERNOR LALONG

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong says Plateau State will elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima as it continues to play prominent role in Nigerian politics by remaining in the mainstream during the next dispensation.

Speaking at the APC Zonal rally for Plateau North Zone held at the Bukuru mini stadium, Lalong said the State has seen the significance of remaining in national politics and will not go back to opposition politics.

He charged the people to vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima on 25th February 2023 which will usher in a period of renewed hope for the State and nation at large.

Lalong told the voters to disregard the antics of the opposition who carry a baggage of unpaid salaries, insecurity, lack of unity and unfulfilled promises.

He said they cannot be trusted with power again since they did not perform well and were kicked out. APC he said was the right answer for the continuous peace, stability and unity of Plateau State.

Deputy Speaker House of Representatives Idris Wase said the people of the Northern Zone have every reason to vote the APC from Top to Bottom because they have seen and touched the dividends of democracy within their zone and the entire State.

APC Gubernatorial candidate Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda thanked the people of Plateau Northern Zone for their support so far which proves that APC is the party that is founded on justice, equity and fairness.

He said when elected, he will build on the wonderful performance of the Lalong Rescue Administration by ensuring that Plateau is taken to greater heights.

Deputy Governorship candidate Pam Bot-Mang assured the people of Plateau Northern Zone that APC is not about religion, ethnicity or tribalism but about justice and inclusive Governance.

Chairman of the party Hon. Rufus Bature charged the members of the party to sustain the campaign tempo which will lead to a resounding victory for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda and other candidates of the APC.

Other candidates also spoke where they reiterated their willingness to make the people proud and ensure that democracy benefits them.

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong says he is excited with the prospect for an overwhelming victory that awaits APC Presidential Candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Plateau Gubernatorial candidate Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda and other candidates of the party with less than two weeks before the polls open.

Governor Lalong who was speaking during the commencement of APC Zonal rallies in Plateau Central Zone held at the Pankshin mini stadium said the people have embraced the APC and are sure that the combination of Nentawe and Tinubu will sustain and accelerate development of the State and the country at large.

He said with the level of acceptance that the party enjoys in the State and in many parts of the country, the prospect for victory is palpable and evident.

Lalong said APC has done well in the State and the nation which is what Asiwaju and Shettima who have the record of performance will consolidate when elected.

The Governor charged the people not to be deceived by those who are trying to devide the votes of the APC by preaching fragmented voting based on ethno-religious sentiments.

REACTION TO PRESS STATEMENT BY PDP LEGAL ADVISER

The attention of the Attorney-General of Plateau State, Mr. Chrysanthus T. Ahmadu Esq. has been drawn to a Press statement by the PDP Legal Adviser, Binchen Jantur, issued in reaction to a Court of Appeal decision in a matter involving two members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), a Case emanating from the PDP Primary Election in Langtang North Local Government in Plateau State.

In the said Statement, the PDP Legal Adviser insinuated that there was something unusual in the decision of the Office of the Attorney-General of Plateau State taking over a Case instituted without following due process, by Direct Criminal Complaint, because the Case was between 2 PDP Members. Certainly, those said comments by the PDP Legal Adviser must have been made in ignorance of the facts of the matter.

Let it be known that the Office of the Attorney-General is yet to receive any Official Complaint by the PDP in respect of its decision to take over the Case in question, a clear indication that the Party and its Candidate realized the wrongfulness of its action in the manner the Direct Criminal Complaint was instituted.

For the record, the Office of the Attorney-General upon Complaints by aggrieved Citizens of the State routinely takes over Criminal Cases filed in Court where the investigation of such Complaints show the improper and indiscriminate use of the Criminal prosecution machinery of the State to short-circuit due process of Law.

As regards the Case in question, instituted by one Nanmi L. Joseph against one Augustine Timkuk before the Chief Magistrate Court 1, West of Mines Jos for alleged Perjury, upon the receipt by the Office of a Complaint of improper use of the judicial process the following findings were made:

1. That the Complainant and the Defendants were Candidates in the Primary Election of the PDP held in Langtang North of Plateau State.

2. That even though the Offence of Perjury alleged against the Defendant is an offence against the State, the Charge was neither filed by the Attorney-General’s Office nor the Commissioner of Police, contrary to Section 120 (1) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Plateau State.

3. The Complainant a Private citizen filed the Charge without a Report of Investigation by the Police and without obtaining the Fiat of the Attorney-General as required by Law.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Attorney-General of Plateau State took over the said Case, like many others before it, where Direct Criminal Complaints are frivolously filed even in purely Civil Cases including even disputes on Title to Land, pursuant to his powers under Section 211 of the 1999 Constitution, out of a sense of duty and in the public interest to prevent an abuse of the judicial process by Citizens who are always quick to employ Criminal Process in a bid to settle purely Civil Disputes.

Consequently, and in the light of the foregoing, the Attorney-General of Plateau State wishes to call on all Politicians not to drag the otherwise non-partisan Office of Attorney-General into the murky waters of Politics, as doing so has the potential to undermine Public confidence in the revered Office with grave implications for Public Order and the Rule of Law.

The enthusiasm written on the faces of supporters of Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi in the remaining wards of Pankshin and Kanke delivered a message of hope and of the bond between the people and their representative.

If visiting Gyangyang, Nemel, Dawaki, Kabwir, Wuchenbe, Wokkos, Kangshu, Kadung and Fier is anything to go by, it further reinforces the fact that Gagdi has everything going on well for him as far as his ambition is concerned.

The presence of Engr Manji Gontori, erstwhile gubernatorial candidate of YPP in Plateau State from Gyangyang to Fier was, in the main, a sign that rejoining APC was the boost needed to prosecute the battle.

Thus, Manji’s strongest selling points were further reassurance that, it was no fluke dropping his ambition for Nentawe Yilwatda’s and the party’s glory in the 2023 general elections.

With an affected voice due to selling his candidature for three days non-stop, Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi would trudge on, speaking to his supporters who defied the vagaries of the weather to reach out to them before the polls.

THANK YOU PKK FOR THE RENEWED COVENANT!

The last four days have been hectic, but reassuring for members of my Campaign Council and supporters of my re-election bid.

We traversed 36 Federal Wards of Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam LGAs to seek the support of the electorate in our quest to continue our people-centred representation.

As it was in 2019, so it remains our covenant with the electorate in PKK in 2023. However this time around, having had an abundance of capital projects and empowerment interventions permeating all the 36 Federal Wards, as evidence of the fulfilment of our part of the bargain.

The love exhibited by voters in ALL the places visited in the last four days was a testimony of their belief in our mission and the assurances of a better deal in 2023 and beyond; with a resolve to vote APC in all elections.

As we plan to stage the Mother of all Rallies in Kanke on a date to be announced soon, we shall continue to engage our voters on personal consultations and meetings between now and the election day.

We dedicate the hitch-free and success-filled campaign rallies to all GAGDI supporters who committed their time, energies and resources in making sure we inch closer to electoral victory with each passing day.

I specifically thank those who created time out of their busy schedules to go round with us. We are thankful to God almighty that no fatality of any sort was recorded, however, five of our supporters sustained injuries as a result of motorbike accidents.

Once again, thank you PKK for the renewed covenant!

GAGDI AND THE TRAJECTORY OF PEOPLE’S PATIENCE

On February 12, 2023, those who accompanied Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi to some of the farthest parts of the Federal Wards of Kanam LGA may have read through the thread of the development worth recounting for those who do not know Kanam here.

Traversing through Dugub, Dogonruwa, Munbutbo, Garga, it was easy to make-out what was ahead: Driving as if in a grandprix, that must be done to beat the heavy sand on the roads, but what laid ahead became a test of who was on the wheels.

But, Na Kankwana, from Angwan Gyero in Munbutbo and an old hand in handling the steering wheel is able to give any driver a lesson on how to drive in the sand. He was part of the entourage, who knows every pot hole from the point of start to finish.

The casualties became pronounced: Some vehicles fell to function and were left to be attended to the next day, just as the fatigue that came through pushing some of them that got stuck in the sand took its toll on all.

At Tunga, Lugur, and Garga and Munbotbo, Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi would himself lead to push the vehicles which were stuck in the sand. Those who have stayed longer with him are quick to recall some of the days that he would challenge drivers who had problems and drive their vehicles to safety.

The moment night felt, the test became manifest from Ganjuwa, Birbyang, Tunga, Tukur, Yenla, Kantana, Jom terminating at Jarmai. By the time the entourage arrived at the venues of meeting his constituents, the night was far spent.

At some point for a first-timer, it would appear no soul would be met at the venues. It would surprise those that doubted that they kept virgil by singing and dancing until he arrived the venue.

But it was not the test that should make the headline:It was the sheer patience of supporters patiently waiting in the sun for hours to receive their son.

They knew he would turn up knowing the terrain of their area. For young men who own motorcycles, they displayed their skills in the most outrageous manner.

They understand politics. Only the patient goes home happier. The orientation serves well to raise politically conscious actors that could be accommodated.

That is the mold Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi is made of. Suave as ever, he is the man to beat, because In God We Trust.

Speaking at Belning Federal Ward which was the last in the tour today, Gagdi said, it is high time to compensate communities that have helped in the course of electing him.

Corroborating Gagdi’s performance, Engr Manji Gontori, erstwhile YPP flag bearer in Plateau State, and Elder Nanle Gujor who represented the Elders’ Advisory Council paid glowing tribute to the people’s representative.

The presence of another elder, Nde Joshua Waklek at Belning spoke a million words as Gagdi promised that the ward would be made better, having not done a lot for them.

If there are very difficult terrains in Kanam which were visited on the second day of the tour, the journey to Garram and Tal by the Gagdi Campaign Council tells of a story of resistance and determination to change a narrative.

The blistering winds at Garram, Tal Tuesday morning could do nothing to stop Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi meeting his constituents on day four of his re-election bid.

Of the visit to Garram, Tal, Chip, Jiblik, Lankan and Belning Federal Wards, the reassurance of a new hope and willingness to work brought many decampees from PDP to APC. They were received at Tal, Chip, Jiblik and Lankan in large number.
