Chief Kefas Ropshik “Kefiano” Donates Food to Less Privileged at New Year
2023 is coming with great hope to the less privileged as over 500 Widows and 400 Orphans got food items from Chief Kefas Ropshik Wungak “Kefiano” on Monday 2nd January, 2023 to celebrate his Birthday.

The event which held at Mees Palace was well attend by the business community, political stalwarts and well wishers including Plateau Music Superstar Panshak “Iceprince” Zamani to identify with the Celebrant who according to them is impacting the lives of the masses significantly.

While presenting the food items to the beneficiaries, Chief Kefas Ropshik said he is delighted to share with the less privileged from what God has blessed him with to assist them considering the harsh economic situation which he said has brought untold hardships to the people.
“It is a difficult period for a lot of people and what we are doing here is not our doing but the will of God who has blessed us so we can bless other people. In life, some people’s blessings may come from you and one must be ready not to hoard such blessings but give them out to attract more from God who is the source.
Though things were difficult for us business wise, we still deemed it fit to do what we are doing to identify with the less privileged; put smiles on their faces and give them a sense of belonging in the Society. It is always usual for me that one should always reach out to those in need. I am not doing this because i have more than enough, i am going out of my way to put this together to impact the lives of the people” he asserted.

He urged the people not to allow their background and present situation determine their future.
“Do not disappoint the sacrifices being made by people to you.
When i die, I don’t want to be remembered by the amount of money I have but the number of lives I will touch positively when I die” he said.

He admonished the people to elect credible Leaders who will provide good governance and transform the Nation in the forthcoming general elections.

Miracle Kefas, an Orphan from Barkin Ladi Local Government Area fron the Kefiano Orphanage who lost his parents during the crisis that affect his community couldn’t hide his joy and thanked Chief Kefas Ropshik for catering for their education and welfare since they were affected by crisis.

Mrs Monica Kefas a Widow and Member of Total Women Foundation (TOWOF) appreciated Chief Kefas Ropshik for identifying with them and putting smiles on their faces at their most trying moment.
She prayed God to bless him more so he can reach out to more persons who need same humanitarian intervention.

Each of the Widows got bag of Rice with hundred bags of same going to the orphans to cater for their feeding.

Chief Kefas has been carrying out this humanitarian gesture for 13 Years now and many have benefitted with hundreds on scholarship and others being part of his medical outreaches and other empowerment programmes.

UN SET TO ESTABLISH PEACE UNIVERSITY IN PLATEAU

The United Nations (UN) has indicated interest to establish Peace University in Jos, the Plateau state capital.
Plateau state governor Simon Lalong stated this in his New Year message.

“Just last week, we received the good news of the approval by the United Nations for the establishment of a Peace University in Plateau State to serve as a hub for teaching and research in peacebuilding and conflict management,” he said.

The Governor said: “In the past seven and half years, I have had the rare privilege and honour to serve you as governor of this beautiful, blessed and cherished state which has a worldwide reputation as the Home of Peace, Hospitality and Tourism.

These years have been very eventful just as they have been challenging. While we look back at the challenges we have worked through, we certainly have many reasons to thank God for the progress we achieved in these years.

Governor of Plateau State and Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council Simon Bako Lalong says the people of Plateau State and Nigerians at large will vote APC again because of its achievements in the area of peace, development and justice.

The Governor said this at the Bit Pol Cultural Festival in his village, N’yak, Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State to usher in the new year.

He said the APC under his Rescue Administration has done a lot to restore peace to Plateau State and address previous acts of injustice, exclusion and division.

He cited the restoration of traditional stools and creation of new ones as a very important step taken by his government to emancipate the people and give them a sense of belonging in the affairs of the State.

He said such actions and the creation of the Peace Building Agency and opening up of room for dialogue, understanding and unity have made it possible for people to seek common grounds and stand against division and unpatriotic conduct.

While thanking his people for always supporting him and voting for the APC, Lalong said he was sure that such support will manifest in the polls when they vote to elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President as well as Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda as Governor of Plateau State to succeed him.

He said as the DG of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Council, he can guarantee that Tinubu and Nentawe will do justice to all Nigerians irrespective of their backgrounds.

Deputy Speaker House of Representatives Idris Wase said the people of Nyak should be very proud to have produced an illustrious son like Governor Lalong who is humble, patriotic and honest.

He said Lalong is a leader who knows the road to victory and success and deserves to be supported by not only his kinsmen but the people of Plateau State as he has the connections and capacity to protect their interests in national politics.

APC Gubernatorial candidate Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda while assuring the people of Nyak that he will continue with the legacies of Governor Lalong and ensure that peace and stability persists in Plateau State, said the people of Plateau State will witness greater things as he builds in the legacies of the Lalong Rescue Administration.

Plateau State Algon Chairman Hon. Alex Naantuam said the Pol Unity and Cultural Festival has continued to bring in people from around the country every year which is a testament to the unity and progress that exists within the Nyak community as well as collaboration with their sons and daughters.

GOVERNOR LALONG URGES KINSMEN TO DELIVER TINUBU/SHETTIMA, NENTAWE, OTHERS, AS HE ATTENDS GAMAI FESTIVAL OF ARTS AND CULTURE

Plateau State Governor and Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council Simon Bako Lalong has appealed to his kinsmen to vote for candidates of the APC who are known for record of service and have clear and concrete plans to address the nation’s challenges.

The Governor said this at the annual cultural festival of the Gamai people of Plateau State tagged “Bit Gamai 2022” held in Shendam.

While thanking the Gamai people for standing by him and other sons and daughters of the Chiefdom, Lalong said without their support, he would not have been recognised and given responsibilities such as the Governor of Plateau State, Chairman Northern Governors Forum, DG Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Council among others.

He said “While I also appeal to all Gamai sons and daughters to support their own who are vying for various offices in the State and Federal elections, I wish to advise that we reflect deeply on the general interests of the Gamai nation as we go into the polls. At the end of the day, we should be seen to be more strategic than emotional in making our choices and networking with those who will bring progress and development to Gamai Land. Already, I have started talking to my principal, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu   and his running mate Senator Kashim Shettima for Federal Interventions to our land if God gives them power. Here in Plateau, Dr. Nentawe will do a good job and continuing with our legacies”.

He said by the grace of God when he is also given an opportunity to serve at the Senate in 2023, he shall build upon what he has done so far in pushing the interests of the Gamai nation.

Lalong added that “This year’s Bit Gamai celebration again reminds us of the great values of the Gamai people that have been passed on from generation to generation. Despite the rapidly changing world, we still hold dearly the attributes of hardwork, diligence, honesty, confidence and above all love that the Gamai people are known for. These are things we should always emphasise whenever we come together”.

The Governor said he has personally benefited from these values especially in carrying out his responsibilities to the State and nation over the years.

Deputy Speaker House of Representatives Idris Wase said the event is a reminder about the fact that since Governor Lalong came to office, there is unity and peace which has also brought in a lot of development to Gamai land.

Chairman of the occasion and member representing Pankshin, Kanke, Kanam Federal Constituency Yusuf Gagdi said the Gamai nation has a lot to celebrate Governor Lalong for because he has used his influence to impact not only the Gamai people but the entire State.

Chairman of the Gamai Unity and Development Organization (GUDO) Prof. Theodore Maiyaki, SAN said Governor Lalong has used his position as Governor to carry along all parts of the State in development and appointments which have made him a leader for all and not an ethnic champion.

He said Gamai Land has also received its fair share of projects, programmes and appointments from both the State and Federal Governments.

Also speaking, the Candidate of the APC in Gubernatorial elections Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda assured the Gamai nation that when given the mandate, he will do his best to continue with the legacies of Governor Lalong across the State and most especially in Gamai Land.
Labour Party Candidate Dr. Patrick Dakum also addressed the festival and commended the Gamai people and Governor Lalong for their hospitality and humility.

The “Who is Who in Gamai Land Compendium” was launched while the new Miss Gamai was crowned.

Earlier in the day, the Gamai Centre for Peace and Unity was commissioned by Governor Lalong in Shendam.

Member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency, Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi has said that as Nigerians are ushered into the year 2023, they must begin the year full of hope and expectations.

The Chairman of, the House Committee on Navy, while wishing Nigerians the best of the year, described the forthcoming general election as an important event in the life history of the nation.

While urging registered voters to use their votes wisely, said if they voted the right candidates into the various positions, Nigeria will experience the development it has yearned for years.

Gagdi reiterated the fact that service has been in his DNA and would not rest on his oars in discharging what he has come to be associated with in the last three and half years.

He noted that he is better positioned and rejuvenated to be the best that he can be when he is again mandated to represent Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam.

Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency was the cynosure of all eyes at the Bit Gamai Cultural Festival in Shendam today December 31, 2022, as he was installed the Barden Gamai.

Rt Hon Gagdi was chairman of the occasion, which drew a mammoth crowd that had come to celebrate with their son, Governor Simon Bako Lalong and chairman, Northern Governors’ Forum and DG APC Presidential Campaign Council, who celebrated his last as Governor of the state.

This title bestowed on Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi is an addition to other titles such as Dan Malikin Kanam, Dan Majen Jhar amongst others has continued to be celebrated and honoured for changing the course of representation of his constituency.

Rt Hon Gagdi has remained committed to the cause of serving the people with an example to boot, having touched the lives of the people in more ways than one.

At the event, a compendium of Who’s Who in Gamailand was presented and launched. He donated a handsome amount of N10 million for the project.

While speaking at the event, Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi described the Gamai people as hospital and peaceful as exhibited in their son, Rt Hon Simon Bako Lalong.

The event which drew the creme de la creme of the state and beyond was in honour of the popular Gamai annual cultural festival tagged Bit Gamai.

Guests at the event include Governor Simon Bako Lalong, Speaker House of Representatives, APC gubernatorial candidate in the state, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, members of the National and state House of Assembly, captains of industry, members of the state Executive Council, local government chairmen, party leaders and traditional rulers.

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has congratulated his Principal Private Secretary Barr. Cletus Kangkum on his 70th birthday.

Governor Lalong in a goodwill message said Barr. Cletus Kangkum has lived a life full of humility, hardwork, honesty and diligence as well as impacted so many people.

He said the celebrant is an accomplished administrator who performs his duties without fear or favour while mentoring the younger generation on the ethics, essence and rudiments of public service.

The Governor said such experience and quality service is what Kangkum has been carrying out since he joined the Rescue Administration in his present capacity and efficiently ensured that the office of the State Chief Executive functions seamlessly.

He also commended his devotion to God and contributions to the Church and the gospel, which he said has helped him raise children that are contributing meaningfully to society.

While wishing him many more years of good health, God’s protection and peace, Lalong urged him to continue to sustain his reputation as a reliable, honest and diligent man whose passion for justice, equity and fairness remains sacrosanct.

DG TINUBU/SHETTIMA CAMPAIGN COUNCIL ENGAGES STAKEHOLDERS IN SHENDAM; SAYS APC SET FOR VICTORY

Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and Governor of Plateau State Simon Bako Lalong has continued his engagement with stakeholders towards ensuring the victory of the APC Presidential Candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all candidates of the party during the forthcoming elections.

Lalong who arrived his hometown of Shendam Local Government in Plateau State for the new year celebrations met with stakeholders comprising of different interest groups as well as party members from the zone.

He said he was at home to join them in celebrating the new year and also use the opportunity to engage them on the forthcoming elections with a view to sensitizing and giving further insights into the Renewed Hope of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Ticket and that of the APC in general.

While thanking them for their support throughout his political career, the DG said the APC is strongly rooted within the Zone and Plateau State at large because of the various projects and programmes that have direct impact on the people.

Their confidence and support he said has given them nation and the party at the national level to recognise him and give him the opportunity to serve in various capacities.

The Governor who is also the Senatorial Candidate for the Plateau South Senatorial District assured them that Tinubu and Shettima will work for all Nigerians and also ensure that there is equity, justice and fairness in the distribution of resources of the nation.

He advised them to vote for APC from the Governorship, State and national assembly as well as the President. He advised them against falling for the gimmicks of the opposition who are making promises without any record of performance.

Lalong said with his appointment as the DG of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, the people of Plateau State Shendam already have a place of pride when Asiwaju Tinubu becomes President.

Chairman Shendam Local Government Miskoom Alex Naantuam said the stakeholders have all agreed to vote APC from Top to Bottom because of the quality of candidates and their capacity to deliver.

GAGDI DONATE’S 2 MILLION NAIRA TO NIGERIAN LEGION

Member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam in the National Assembly, Rt.Hon.Yusuf Adamu Gagdi has donated 2 million naira to the Nigerian Legion in Plateau State.

This, Gagdi did at the 2023 Emblem Appeal Fundraising held at the Banquet Hall of the New Government House,Little Rayfield in Jos,Plateau State on December 29, 2022.

Gagdi who is also Chairman,House Committee on Navy, after transferring the cash directly to the account of the Legion and acknowledged by its Chairman Col.(CNC) Sati Yilwat, said he prides himself as part of them because he chairs the Committee that has direct connection with them, promising to continuously stand for all serving and retired officers who have and are still sacrificing their lives for the unity of Nigeria.

He paid glowing tribute to all fallen heroes and assured the retired officers of the armed forces that he will continue to advance legislations that will cover their interests and attract greater attention to them for what they have done.

GOVERNOR SIMON BAKO LALONG SIGNS 149.9 BILLION 2023 BUDGET AS STATE EXCOS APPROVES

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has signed into law the 2023 Appropriation Bill of 149.9 Billion naira passed by the State House of Assembly.

While signing the budget into law in the presence of the Speaker House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda and Chief Judge David Mann, the Governor commended the State House of Assembly for giving due attention to the budget and passing it in record time in line with the provisions of SFTAS.

He said as the last budget of the Rescue Administration, the Government will do its best to implement the budget and smoothly bow out by handing over a virile economy to the next administration.

Lalong said the synergy between the three Arms of Government will continue as it has yielded positive results which are evident in the smooth running of Government and implementation of critical projects and programmes.

The Commissioner for Budget and Planning Dan Hirkop said the House of Assembly had raised the earlier budget of 139.3 Billion naira to 149.9 Billion having considered other issues such as injection of more staff into the workforce as well as transition to the next administration among others.

He said approved 2023 budget consists of recurrent expenditure of N84.153 Billion and capital component of N65.594 Billion.

Meanwhile the State Executive Council has approved the transmission of Draft Bill for the creation of the Plateau State Senior Secondary School Education Board to take charge of all secondary education matters.
Briefing newsmen after the Executive Council Meeting, the Commissioner for Secondary Education Mrs. Elizabeth Wapmuk said the creation of the Board will make management of secondary schools in the State more efficient and productive as funding, recruitment and human resource management will be better handled.

Commissioner for Information and Communication Dan Manjang said the council also the Council has recieved a request by the United Nations for the establishment of the Peace University in Plateau State. He said the Government is working with the UN to fine tune details of the venture.

He also disclosed that the modalities for the creation of Development Areas is still ongoing while the Council has advised traditional institutions which are yet to fill vacant stools to do so as soon as possible.

Manjang also announced the approval for the Debt Management Strategy of the State as well as recieved reports from two sub councils.
