GOVERNOR SIMON BAKO LALONG CHARGES NEW AKU UKA OF KWARARAFA KINGDOM ON PEACE

By Prince Sekat, Jos

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has charged the new Aku Uka, His Royal Highness Manu Ishaku Adda Ali Matakhitsewen to govern his people with the fear of God and work hard to ensure that all forms of crimes and threat to security are eliminated.

Governor Lalong was speaking at the installation and presentation of staff of office to the Aku Uka by Taraba State Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku in Wukari.

Lalong said the installation is a unique moment that will linger in the minds of the people because the last time this type of event took place was in 1976 when the late monarch was crowned.
He congratulated His Royal Highness for ascending the throne of his fore fathers at this time when there is a greater need to foster development, peace and progress of the land and also commended the king-makers for conducting a selection process devoid of rancour and bitterness.

He said “being alive to witness this special event calls for thanksgiving to God and appreciation to the ancestors for giving us this rich and vibrant culture that we continue to uphold. I therefore bring you the goodwill and warm felicitations of the Government and people of Plateau State with whom Taraba State and indeed the Kwararafa Kingdom shares very close affinities”

The Governor said he was confident that the selection of the Aku Uka will usher in a period of greater prosperity within the Kingdom, Taraba State and Nigeria at large. He reminded him about the challenges that the nation faces particularly insecurity and crime which require the support of the traditional institution to be brought under control. He expressed hope that the Royal Father will do everything possible to ensure that he mobilizes his subjects to rise against crime in whatever form.

“Using your wealth of experience and the influence of your office, it will be very important for you to also work with the Government and non-governmental organisations towards ensuring that job opportunities are created particularly in entrepreneurship and agriculture that are synonymous with the Kwararafa Kingdom. We look forward to you leading your subjects towards reviving the spirit of hardwork, resilience and excellence that is known in Kwararafa Kingdom. Already, the Northern Governors Forum has submitted its proposal to the National Assembly to find a suitable role for the traditional institution in the Constitution. We desire to see our royal fathers play a greater role in governance as it used to be in the pre-colonial and colonial times so as to be able to confront the challenges we face today. I know his Royal Highness will continue to play the role that his predecessor played within the Northern Traditional Council and the nation at large” he said.

Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku while handing over the staff of office to the new Aku Uka said the ancient Kwararafa Kingdom still remains a reference point for civilization, arts, culture and innovation which still resonates with its sons and daughters all over the world.

He said the new monarch emerged through a free and fair process that was decided by the king makers without any interference from the Government.

Darius charged the Royal Father to work assiduously in mobilising his subjects towards promoting development in education, agriculture, health and infrastructure, assuring him of the support of the Government.

The Taraba Governor used the occasion to warn traditional rulers against involvement in partisan politics and arbitrary sale of lands as well as allowing illegal mining in their domains.

Former Minister of Defence General T.Y. Danjuma said the event is a special moment for the people of the Kwararafa Kingdom who are known for hardwork, unity and pursuit of excellence.

He frowned against the level of insecurity in the country manifesting in kidnapping, banditry and terrorism which he said must be tackled immediately to save the nation.

T.Y. Danjuma said the people must be involved in their protection and also work with the security agencies to confront criminals whose main aim is to destroy Nigeria.

Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar said that task before the new Aku Uka is enormous and calls for commitment that is built on vision, fairness and justice.

He advised his colleague never to allow politicians distract him from serving his people justly and honestly as doing anything contrary to his calling and the wishes of his ancestors will not bring progress to the land.

The Aku Uka in his remarks thanked the people for supporting him as he ascends the throne of his forefathers.

While pledging to be a father to all, the royal father promised to work in the footsteps of his forefathers who toiled to built a kingdom that embraced diversity, peace, unity and progress.

He also promised thanked the guests who honored him and the people of the State for their show of love.

“WE WILL DELIVER VICTORY FOR ASIWAJU”, GOVERNOR SIMON BAKO LALONG,DG APC PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN COUNCIL DECLARES

“WE WILL DELIVER VICTORY FOR ASIWAJU”, GOVERNOR LALONG, DG APC PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN COUNCIL DECLARES

Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and Governor of Plateau State Simon Bako Lalong has disclosed that the APC will run a clean campaign based on issues rather than propaganda and falsehood.

Lalong who was speaking during official inauguration of the Presidential Campaign Council and unveiling of the Action Plan by President Muhammadu Buhari said the APC is poised for victory and will therefore not be distracted by toxic campaigns no matter the provocation.

The DG said the PCC is elated by the zeal and desire of party members across the nation and the diaspora to serve in one position or the other during the campaigns, explaining that the PCC devised a strategy to ensure that everyone is captured across the various levels of the party structure.

He said “with the blessings of Mr. President and the endorsement of the Party and our Candidate, we have chosen to carry out a bottom-up approach to the campaigns. In other words, members will work to deliver the party and its candidates from the unit to the national level and not the other way round. Therefore, we have carefully planned the structure to give roles to all members from the Unit, Ward, Local Government, State, Zonal, Regional and Federal Levels. That way, we are sure of not only getting everyone on board, but also able to easily track the roles played by each member in the campaign process. At the end of the day, we can conveniently address any challenge and even reward excellence while harvesting maximum votes. For the PCC, the days of people flying letters in Abuja while work suffers at the grassroots is over”.

The Director General said the PCC was aware that the composition of the leadership and membership of the various Committees may not have satisfied the yearnings of everyone but everything possible has been done to come up with a list that captures virtually every interest. The structure adopted will give room for those whose names do not appear, to be given roles at the Regional, Zonal, State Local Government, Ward and Unit levels. That way, everyone is captured in the campaigns.

“Our campaigns will therefore be issue-based and devoid of propaganda or falsehood. We shall tell the electorate what our party has done and also remind them of the enviable records set by our Presidential Candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate Senator Kashim Shettima during their previous assignments. They have demonstrated the capacity, experience, composure, exposure and acceptance to take Nigeria to greater heights from May 29th 2023”.

National Chairman of the APC Abdullahi Adamu appealed to all party faithful to be committed to the task ahead and remain focused on the goal of ensuring that APC retains power at the Federal and State levels.

He said since no army goes to war fragmented, the task ahead requires a lot of sacrifices by members of the PCC and the entire party structure. He urged them to put aside personal or sectional interests and focus on the important goal which is to win the elections with an unprecedented wide margin in the history of elections in Nigeria.

In his remark, Vice Presidential running mate Senator Kashim Shettima said the APC remains the party with the best intentions for uniting and developing Nigeria into a great nation that meets up its potentials.

APC Presidential Candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu while speaking on his plans for Nigeria said he brings hope and renewal as he will give the nation the leadership that will focus on assembling the best minds and giving them the support and direction to confront the challenges of the country head on.

In unveiling his manifesto entitled “Renewed Hope”, the APC Presidential Candidate said President Muhammadu Buhari has done a lot to take Nigeria higher in areas such as education, security, agriculture, infrastructure among others.

These he said will recieve a boost whenever he comes on board as he will tackle insecurity frontally by ensuring that no part of Nigeria is threatened by bandits and other criminals.

Asiwaju said he will work hard to unite Nigeria and ensure that justice, equity and fairness prevails irrespective of the faith, tribe, religion and other considerations of the citizens.

He thanked APC supporters and Nigerians for their overwhelming show of love and support demonstrated towards him since he emerged the party’s Candidate.

President Muhammadu Buhari while inaugurating the Council said he was happy to be at the forefront of the campaign as the future of Nigeria is safer with the APC.

He said the 2023 General elections is as important as the one that brought the party to power in 2015 hence the need for party members to work hard in ensuring that the APC wins at all levels.

He described Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a visionary leader whose political journey has been full of success and turnaround just as it was recorded in Lagos during his government and in the subsequent administrations of his successors.

While congratulating the party members and candidates of the party at various levels, the President commended the spirit of unity and oneness demonstrated by other aspirants who donated their structures and other facilities to those who emerged as candidates.
