LET THE PARAMILITARY BREATH –GROUP ALLEGES NON-PAYMENT OF ALLOWANCES TO NSCDC, OTHERS UNDER FEDERAL MINISTRY OF INTERIOR By Freelance Reporters, Jos

A call was made to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to allow a sigh of relief and a breath of fresh air on the Nigerian Paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior.

A statement by an Integrity group who are said to be the watchdog of society and advocate for good governance said agencies like Immigration, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), the Civil Servants, and other security agencies are being suffocated under the present administration which promised a renewed hope to all Nigerians.

The group secretary general, Mustapha Aliyu Usman appended his signature and made it available to our correspondent worried that the embattled Minister of Humanitarian, Dr Betta Edu was lavishing Nigerian money in hard currency but agencies protecting the corporate image of the country are suffering in paupers amount as salaries and allowances.

The statement read that if Betta Edu was found dashing her workers five hundred US dollars (500) for lunch as a Minister, a beneficiary in bewilderment was heard saying that the amount was too much for a lunch it shows Paramilitary must feel the same breath to survive.

The group recalled how the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari approved rent subsidies and peculiar allowances since June, 202 for immigration and NSCDC alleged that the Finance Minister and Accountant General refused to act on the directives to this moment.

The statement continued to read that President Tinubu a few weeks ago, ordered the payment of three Months’ Wage Award arrears but the Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Accountant General sat on the directive with no compliance for the implementation

While alleging that Ministers under the Ministry of Finance and Interior are compliances with the non-payment approved of allowances to Immigration, Civil Servants, and NSCDC by the Interior ministry. The group begged President Tinubu for immediate intervention.

On a lamentable note, the statement further read that the Finance Ministry went on selective payments, and agencies like Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) got the Three Months’ Wage award as well as their Peculiar Allowances in arrears while other agencies under the same government are suffocating in suffering gasping to breath fresh air of a renewed hope assurance.

While passing a vote of confidence on the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the integrity group believed that the leadership of Tinubu could not be equated with the passed administration that anyone disobeying Presidential order to pay wage award allowances, rent Subsidy, and Peculiar allowances to the affected Paramilitaries will face the full blown wrath of the law.

“Betta Edu, NSIPA coordinator, and the entire Ministry of Interior are better examples of no sacred cow under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“We hope those sitting on the payment and non-implementation of wage award allowances of some paramilitary agencies will be brought to book.” The statement read

Efforts to reach officials of ministry of finance, interior was not possible as their lines dialled is on constant “busy”

COURT OF APPEAL, GIVES FAIR HEARING, Dr. NENTAWE TELLS SUPREME COURT

By Freelance Reporters, Jos

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Plateau State gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, has urged the Supreme Court, to dismiss Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s averment that the Court of Appeal has denied him fair hearing.

Dr. Nentawe also averred that his contention was about “qualification/sponsorship,” of Gov Mutfwang, and urged the Supreme Court to so hold that the PDP lacked the capacity to sponsor any candidate to contest the 2023 general election.

Dr. Yilwatda made the urge in his response to the grounds of appeal by Mutfwang, billed for adoption before the Supreme Court, Tuesday.

The Court of Appeal, Abuja division had in November, 2023, sacked Governor Caleb Mutfwang, on ground of non qualification to contest the March 2023, general election, it also declared Dr. Nantawe Yilwatda Goshwe, as the valid winner of the election.

However, dissatisfied with the Court of Appeal judgement, Mutfwang filed appeal before the Supreme Court.

In his response to Mutfwang’s averment, the APC candidate, Yilwatda, through his six-man SANs, lead by Prof. Kayode Olatoke SAN, said the Court of Appeal, has discharged it’s duties, where it held that it had, “…very carefully considered the processes filed for and against the objection and motion by the parties and carefully read their submissions,” before arriving at its judgement.

“Submit that the above finding is clear and succinct enough to know that the lower court considered the processes and the arguments of the parties before reaching the inevitable conclusion dismissing the objections.

“Submit that the issue of denial or violation of the Appellant’s right to fair hearing does not arise,” Nentawe averred.

He reminded the Apex court, on it’s various decisions by their lordships: Chukuma-Eneh, JSC and Per Nweze, JSC, on fair hearing, respectively.

Dr. Nentawe further told the Apex court, that it’s different judgements, had ruled that the issue of, “qualification of a candidate is both pre-election and post election matter which both the high courts and the relevant election tribunals have jurisdiction to hear and determine.”

“My lords, it must be carefully noted that the provision of section 134 (1) (a) and (3) of the Electoral Act, 2022 is im pari materia with the provisions of section 138 (1)(a) of Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended) which was construed in the above cited judicial authorities.

“The lower court cannot therefore be faulted in concluding that the Honourable Tribunal has the requisite jurisdiction to determine the ground that the Appellant was at the time of the Election not qualified to contest the Election given the fact that he was not sponsored by any political party in breach of section 177 (c) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).

“It is our humble contention that Appellant totally missed the point in arguing this issue. The petition was properly constituted and the tribunal was statutorily and constitutionally imbued with jurisdiction to entertain the claim grounded on non qualification. Allegation that 4 Respondent did not comply with the mandatory provisions of section 177 (c) of the constitution to sponsor a candidate by reason of flagrant non-compliance with valid court order was well made and sustained in the entire circumstance of this appeal.

“This has laid the 4 Respondent bare without a valid structure of the party in place in accordance with the provisions of section 223(1) (a) and (2)(a) of the Constitution…,” Nentawe averred.

He further urged that Supreme Court, should not allow the appeal, in other not to set a precedence of violating court orders, Nentawe also urged the apex court to resolve all issues in his favour, and to uphold the judgement of the law court, that declared him valid winner of Governorship Election in Plateau State.

BETWEEN LALONG AND GAGDI, THE MINISTERIAL CAP THAT FITS PLATEAU

By Freelance Reporters,Jos

In the last few days, the Social Media has been inundated with the news item written by one Mark Longyen and published by Periscope.

Those who do not know Mark Longyen would have long started to celebrate, imagining he must have got them where they would be mostly pained.

Rather than to boldly display his intentions , the undercurrent quickly finds expression in the strange narrative of a rift between Minister of Labour and Employment and former Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong and member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam, Rt Hon Dr. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi.

Reading through the report, any discerning mind would have noted that Periscope appears to be celebrating the fact that more local government areas are getting involved in the advocacy for their sons and daughters to be considered for the ministerial slot.

He failed woefully in his campaign to knock the heads of former Governor Simon Bako Lalong and his trusted ally, Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi on several fronts.

That both of them, together with their supporters have remained stronger and committed to the cause that brought them closer has made their traducers livid with antagonism about their mission.

In his attempt to lampoon both and bring them to disrepute by inputting that several groups are fronting for individuals, he invariably promoted their political relevance at home and nationally; admittedly giving them the place they deserve; and even more, were they to be weighed on a scale.

If we were to interrogate the writer’s antecedence, the reader would have noticed Governor Simon Bako Lalong, his former boss’ openness towards his former media aide, since they parted ways in 2019.

For whatever reasons he chose to tow this path, one thing is certain: The course for what is good cannot be altered.

To think that Lalong and Gagdi are spoilt for a fight for the position is to imagine that they are strangers to what is good for Plateau State.

IF, granted that they are both lined up to get their candidates considered for the ministerial position, they certainly as always have a meeting point.

There is nothing too big they cannot get sorted out, despite crazy insinuations and propaganda by Periscope and its collaborators.

Even in this too, it is In God We Trust!

NGAS DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION ( NDA) AND THE FUTURE LEADERSHIP.

Written by Ngas Patriotic Youth Movement

It is without doubt that the Engr Gonen Gofwen led Executive of Ngas Development Association (NDA) have done it’s human best, towards advancing the course of Ngas Nation since 2018 when they ascended leadership.
As humans the leadership have committed some lapses which drew the err of it’s critics. Be this as it may. the curtain is drawing to the end of it’s tenure with the successful hosting of 2023 PUUSDUNG.
The next president is expected to come to Pankshin LGA.
As at this moment, the Nde Gonen Gofwen led executive is yet to set up the electoral committee to kick start the process.
So far speculations have it that 4 ( Four) Ngas son’s from Pankshin are speculated to have indicated interest.

They are Prof Noel Wannang, Nde Gabriel Gobel, Dr Danjuma Gokum and Nde Yakubu Gomos.

A brief ranking of the four is as follows:

1.PROF NOEL WANNANG.
STRENGTH ; Prof Noel N Wannang. is a very intelligent intellectual,Noel have very rich academic reach out. A very sharp pharmacy with intimidating resume. He is a lawyer. Noel has very rich outreach. He has positively Incurse in the areas of Tourism, Politics, Sports and Health.
WEAKNESS . Prof Wannang is into so many things that Time will not allow him to concentrate as a unifying symbol of leading Ngas Nation. Noel wants to be involved in anything leadership. This might create rift and lack of focus and commitment.

NDE GABRIEL GOBEL.
STRENGTH. Nde Gobel is a polished gentleman. Easy going and calm. He was one time Chairman, Ngas Development Association (NDA) Abuja.
Nde Gobel is very friendly and hardworking.
WEAKNESS. Nde Gobel will be too busy with his official responsibility that he will not have enough time to run a complex body like NDA. More so his urbanization attitude will not allow him ruffle into local issues bedevilling Ngas Nation.

DR DANJUMA GOKUM.
Gokum is the current National Secretary of (NDA). A grassroot personality. His experience as an official will breed continuity in NDA.
WEAKNESS. Gokum lacks exposure and bridging to harness the goodwill harvested by Gonen presidency. More so Dr Gokum will have pressure with his local community ,Wokkos cause when, as National Secretary, he insisted his wife should represent Wokkos District in the NDA women wing maiden national election. Some of his kinsmen/ women saw his action as selfish and greedy. This singular issue could hunt Dr Gokum.
Gokum is tying his presidential ambition on the ground that Wokkos have never produced the NDA presidency. Pundits fault this as NDA leadership have never been based on District consideration but at local government. More so Wokkos have produced 2( Two) deputy presidents and 2′(Two) national secretaries of NDA.
YAKUBU GOMOS. Nde Gomos is a sociable, friendly and warm personality. A good mixer. He has assisted many Ngas people towards securing employment in places he worked. Gomos has assisted in securing admissions to Ngas sons and daughters in his work place in the university.
He is credited to champion J D Gomwalk Annual lecture which attracted prominent Nigerians to Jos when he provided vibrant leadership to his professional outfit. Gomos as chairman, central planning committee PUUSDUNG 2015 raised funds for the expansion and building of the current NDA Secretariat.
WEAKNESS. This is Nde Gomos 3rd attempt for the NDA presidency. Some would wonder why the insistence? Others see this as a strong courage in serving his motherland.
Some pundits says Gomos camp dragged the then NDA Leadership to court. But there is no iota of Truth YAKUBU Gomos did not go to court. But rather, some personalities did just like how some personalities believes to be Engr Gonen supporters went to Court too.
To crown it all. Gomos, with the advice of well meaning Ngas Elders withdrew from the. NDA presidential race for Engr Gonen Gofwen . A rare fit. He played a key role (As Member, organizing committee) Ngas Nation Retreat in Kabwir, 2018 by the Gonen’s NDA.
………….
FOR NOW .This in our opinion is the current rankings of our presidential hopefuls.
Only Time will Tell. May God usher Ngas Nation with a leader of the people who will unite YIL NGAS and Build a resounding relationship with our Neighbours and Friends.
