ABOK’S ABSURD CLAIM OVER IMPEACHMENT__Written by Shabul Mazadu

It was funny reading the account given by the erstwhile Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abok Nuhu Ayuba, on how and why he was impeached as reported by THE NATION Newspaper 30th October, 2021 titled “Lalong Supervised My Impeachment Says Plateau Assembly Speaker.”
His claims were totally absurd and lies.
Most losers try fighting back and exonerating themselves from being the cause of their misfortunes, that’s exactly the path taken by Abok.
It was reported he went to Jos East to lobby the All Progressives Congress, APC, party faithful to pass a vote of confidence on him, and also moved to Abuja and attended a program on not too young to run seeking support to come and claim back his position as Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly.
The convener of the Not Too Young to Run Movement, one Itodo who was totally ignorant of the antecedents of Abok and his ignorance of legislative function, but believed the lies spoken by the Impeached Speaker, agitated for his reinstatement saying the President should issue a directive to security agencies to restore order in the House and ensure Abok Ayuba is accorded full legal and security protection to preside over the legislative business of the House without intimidation and interference. And that the National Assembly should invite the Inspector General of Police and Director General of the DSS for questioning in their involvement of what he called constitutional breached of the institutions. And also that the eight legislators that impeached the speaker should be held accountable for subverting a constituted authority and undermining the constitution of the Federal Republic.
This is another crass show of ignorance, by the convener of not too young to run.
In a democracy, there is rule of law and due process. Itodo has depicted that he did not believe in that, if not he wouldn’t have asked the President and National Assembly to act as if they a competent court of law.
He doesn’t believe in fear hearing, by implication he does not believe in justice. He heard the side of the erstwhile speaker and believed but what about the side of the governor and other members of the House?
If these are the kind of people and their beliefs agitating for not too young to run, our democracy is already dead before they assume power.
The issues of Lalong supervising his impeachment, has be addressed by the governor.
The lies Abok placed before the public are what I will like to address. He claimed that six persons impeached him, but after the election of Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda, 12 officials of the House went to Government House to inform the executive over the new development. Thus, contradicting Abok’s claim. He explained that he fell apart with Governor Lalong over killings and that he forced Lalong to start visiting IDPs and communities attacked.
In December 2016 a year and some months after Lalong became Governor, he went to Dogo Nahauwa over the 2009 massacre to show his love and concern, where was the lying Abok Ayuba? Was he the person that advised Lalong to do that? In July 2018, Lalong visited IDPs at Angul D, was it at the instance of Abok Ayuba? Long before the lying Ayuba came to the House, Lalong has been visiting communities attacked by crises.
The truth is Ayuba as Speaker did not fall apart with Lalong over crises, but because his principal and demigod, Letep Dabang was removed as APC Chairman Plateau State Chapter.
Before the lying Abok came to the House, Governor Lalong has taken measures to curb insecurity in the state such as: setting up peace committee between Berom and Fulani headed by Chief John Gobak to end attacks on communities in Riyom, Barkin Ladi and Jos South; the Peace Building Agency headed Joseph Lengmang; Mobile Police Barracks in Shendam and Gharshish, Air Force Base in Kerang, and the Dutse Uku Watch Tower for early warning signs.
In his second term, Governor Lalong set up inter-religious council, and passed into law anti land grabbing and anti kidnapping bills. Were these not done before the attack on Yelwa Zangam where Abok used it as scapegoat to fight the governor? These security measures taken by Lalong, were they not out of love for peace and security?
Now, Abok was sent to the House of Assembly to make laws that will solve our problems and not to make noise, and false claims. How many bills has he raised for peace to reign in Plateau? Noise are not bills or laws. Frowning at the governor are not bills or laws. He should mention his efforts for the restoration of peace on the Plateau. Lalong as an executive have them, but Abok as a legislator should show us his efforts. Mind you, Lalong did not visit Yelwa Zangam and Miango because of Abok, he has been doing that long before.
It is said, “Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are.” Abok’s friends are mostly members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the followers of the fallen APC party chairman, Dabang.
The PDP members came out end masse and supported the attrocities of Abok calling them patriotism. They protested at the House of Assembly and issued a statement.
If Abok truly means that he supports peace on the Plateau, why is he parleying with the party that eluded peace and is angry with its restoration?
Since the current PDP came to power in 2007, in 2008, when against good pieces of advice and warning from security agencies went ahead and conducted the Jos North LG elections, Plateau ceased to know peace which the spilled over is what Lalong is working to eradicate. After the emergency rule in 2004, Plateau witnessed peace until this PDP led by Jang killed it. This same PDP was advised in 2012 at a meeting at Hill Station Hotel Conference hall to call for a meeting with religious leaders and stakeholders to find lasting solution to the crises bedeviling the state, but it refused. The Governor said he will never do that.
Since crises broke out under Jang in 2008, he never visited any community, but it is his structure that Abok is parleying with and accusing Lalong who visited Dogo Nahauwa where massive genocide took place, that the PDP leadership never visited till he left power.
This same PDP leader said in May 2014 that he did not know why God made him a governor that everyday he woke up to the news of his people being attacked. If almost everyday there was an attack under the PDP, that shows Governor Lalong has done a lot in the restoration of peace. But Abok accused this man but parleys with the party that during its regime could not bring peace and is fighting the government that is restoring peace.
When Lalong came newly and we had peace for over two years, the PDP during its press conference on May 29, 2017, attacked the peace and criticize it, calling it a farce instead of being happy that what they could not do, God brought Lalong to achieve it. These are the people supporting Abok, and he is parading himself a man of peace.
Oh I almost forgot, it was under the PDP that culture of highway blockade whenever attack took place in the bush ensued came into effect.
This same PDP because of its nepotism and wickedness almost split the state if not that new states were not created. In 2012 from Bokkos LGA down to Qua’an Pan, there was a clamour for the creation of South Plateau State excising Barkin Ladi, Jos South, Jos East, Jos North and Bassa. The current brotherhood was almost destroyed, and these are the friends of Abok.
Who is Abok fooling?
Abok has failed to realise that success is the hardest thing to manage. His ascension to the Speaker of the House has made him so pompous coupled with the songs from nightingales of sycophants projecting him a hero without achieving extraordinary feats. And because of his blindness he became a tool of destruction and sabotage to the peace and progress of Plateau State, but claims heroism.

RT. HON. ABOK NUHU AYUBA CALM DOWN AND LET US MOVE FORWARD__Written by Prince Sekat

RT. HON. ABOK NUHU AYUBA
FORMER SPEAKER, PLATEAU STATE Dear sir

LETTER TO RT. HON. ABOK NUHU AYUBA

CALM DOWN AND LET US MOVE FORWARD

I wish to write and appeal to you to calm down and let us move forward, Mr Honourable sir, you are impeached and it stands, there is no amount of shouting and moving from left and right that will bring you back to that position again, it’s a done deal.
Remember that you are not the first Speaker to be removed on the Plateau, Emma Go’ar, Istifanus Mwansat, John Clark Dabwan,All were remove under the watchful eye of Jang,Peter Azi was removed and Replaced by Joshua Madaki and heaven did not fall, therefore, yours cannot be different.

You refused to participate in the following…

  1. Town Hall meeting with Chief of Defence..
  2. Condolence visit by Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) President
  3. Condolence visit by Sultan of Sokoto/Leader of Muslims in Nigeria.
  4. You refused to attend APC stakeholders meeting
  5. You refused to attend Local Government Election Flag off in Shendam
  6. You refused to attend swearing in ceremony for the newly elected LGA Chairmen at Government House only for you to appear at the event of your friend.
As if that is not enough, names of Commissioner nominees were sent to you for screening, you refuse to reconvene the house as if the house is your personal property.

In trying to weep up sentiment, you are telling people that, your removal is because you stand with Plateau people,if I may ask,in what way do you stand with Plateau people when CDS was in Jos but you refused to attend the town hall meeting with him ,there, you could have tell the CDS the bitter truth if you have any as you claim to be standing with Plateau people.

That your removal is connected to the 18 Billion naira loan facility Mr Governor sent to you for approval but you refused, if I may ask,is Mr Governor going to put the money into his pocket?
If you are not aware,in the 18 Billion naira, the construction of British American junction flyover is in it,Dualisation of British, Lamingo Junction road and to complete all the uncompleted projects on ground before Lalong leave office.

My dear brother, don’t waste your resources trying to over heat the polity in the state as we have had enough in the state. It’s time you accept the reality and move on.

For your information,a lot of those members who claimed to be with you are truly not with you, they are green snakes 🐍 in the green grass, more than 5 of those your friends are amongst those who sign for your removal, they are just playing to the gallery so that you will not know, my brother, what did not happen in politics, does not exist.

I tried all I could to reach out to you but to no avail,my aim was to tell you to resign immediately, and these unnecessary spendings would have been avoided.

You see those guys shouting on social media that you remain the authentic speaker of Plateau State House Assembly? They are your real enemies, they don’t have vote in the house, and even in your constituency.

The last time you gave them 500k, you know what happened now, they nearly kill themselves.

Humble yourself and congratulate your elder brother,Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda now and let us move forward.
Thank you.

Yours in the struggle

“I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE IMPEACHMENT OF FORMER SPEAKER” GOVERNOR SIMON BAKO LALONG REPLIES CLERIC

“I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE IMPEACHMENT OF FORMER SPEAKER” GOVERNOR LALONG REPLIES CLERIC.

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong on Saturday cleared the air on the insinuation making rounds in the social media and elsewhere alleging that he has a hand in the impeachment of former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nuhu Abok Ayuba.

Governor Lalong while responding to a submission by a Jos-based Christian cleric Prophet Isa El-Buba at the Annual Thanksgiving Service of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) held at the Jesus Power Crusaders International Assembly Jos where the cleric asked the Governor to restore stability in the House after the recent impeachment of the former Speaker and the election of Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda.

Lalong said “the House of Assembly is an autonomous body that runs its affairs independently. You will recall that I was the first Governor in Nigeria to sign into law the Autonomy Bill when it was passed. I did that because of my passion for democratic growth and the strengthening of the Institution. Having served as a Speaker who was also impeached, I have no hand in the running of the House, not to talk of the change of its leadership. They run their affairs and do as they wish based on their rules and the law”.

The Governor also advised the citizens particularly the leaders of thought to always verify information and also engage before taking a position on any matter such as the impeachment story that has been widely misrepresented.

He advised those who have concerns to reach out to the members and get the complete picture before reaching conclusions. He called for prayers and support for those in authority.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in his message said Nigeria is a great country with huge potentials which needs to be nurtured and built by its citizens. He said though the current challenges are huge, there is biblical support to the fact that things will change for the better in no distant time. He urged Nigerians to speak well of their country and not use confess negatively.

He commended PFN for organising the Thanksgiving Service which is an opportunity to recognise and appreciate God’s goodness for the nation in times of difficulty, saying this makes God to do more.

PFN President Bishop Wale Oke in his sermon said the challenges Nigeria is facing are prevalent and appear daunting, but will surely be overcome according to God’s promises.

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has congratulated the Ujah of Anaguta Jos,  His Royal Majesty Pozoh Johnson Jauro Magaji II as he marks his 43rd birthday.

Governor Lalong in a congratulatory message to the First Class Traditional Ruler, described the Ujah of Anaguta as a vibrant and dynamic traditional ruler who is pragmatic, visionary and committed to the development and progress of his people.

He said the Ujah has within the short period of ascending the throne of his ancestors, shown uncommon determination to foster peaceful coexistence, pursue tolerance and fight against crime and criminality within his domain and the entire State.

“His Royal Majesty was very instrumental in the restoration of peace in the State particularly within Jos North which was affected by recent disturbances that led to loss of lives and properties. He offered good leadership that enabled Government to quickly restore law and order, ensure that perpetrators were apprehended and also facilitate distribution of relief materials to those affected. Government takes cognisance of this and urges him to build on this narrative which will help in ensuring that there is no further breakdown of peace in his domain”.

Governor Lalong while rejoicing with Pozoh Johnson Magaji also reminded him to take very seriously the issue of education for his subjects in order to eliminate ignorance, poverty and gullibility that exposes them to exploitation by selfish individuals.

RE: GUNMEN ASK TROOPS TO VACATE PLATEAU COMMUNITY AHEAD OF PLANNED ATTACK

RE: GUNMEN ASK TROOPS TO VACATE PLATEAU COMMUNITY AHEAD OF PLANNED ATTACK

Operation SAFE HAVEN has noted an online report in circulation on social media since 28 October 2021 authored by one Mr Femi Owolabi, where he alleged that gunmen asked troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN deployed in an unspecified village in Bassa to vacate the community ahead of planned attacks. It was also alleged that the troops went on to negotiate with the gunmen to avert attacks on the said village.

While OPSH would not want to join issues with this merchant of falsehood, it is however instructive to state that the report is unsubstantiated, laced with falsehood and fictitious imagination of the author. To put the record straight, troops do not negotiate with gunmen, we rather deal with them decisively.

Additionally, troops deployed to various villages and communities have stepped-up their early response to distress calls and will not hesitate to come heavy on anybody planning an attack or harbouring criminals in their communities.

OPSH therefore appeals to journalists especially those writing from outside the state to make effort to confirm their report before going to press. Also, crisis merchants who fan embers of violence and panic must be guided on the kind of narrative they churn out to the public. The armchair writers submission in the report remains an elusive figment intended to cause panic and mischief among the law abiding people of Plateau state, hence it should be disregarded in its entirety.

We also urge members of the public to be wary of such mischief makers who are frustrated with the gradual return of the state to its glory. The Operation is on cause and would not be distracted by the antics of vicious mischief makers whose stock in trade is to peddle unfounded rumors and cause panic.

While appreciating the good people of the state for providing timely information to the security agents, the Commander OPSH Major General Ibrahim Ali call on all stakeholders to continue to be ambassadors of peace until the state is returned to the path of peace.

GOVERNOR LALONG RECIEVES NEW PLATEAU HOUSE SPEAKER; PROMISES COLLABORATION AND SYNERGY

Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State has recieved in audience the new Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly who led a delegation to formally inform him about the change of leadership in the House.

Majority leader of the House Hon. Daniel Naanlong told the Governor that the House decided to change its leadership in order to save the institution and democracy from further damage on the account of the misconduct and violation of due process and high handedness of the former Speaker Nuhu Abok Ayuba.

He said after following due process and complying with the laid down procedures, 16 members signed for the removal of Abok who was subsequently impeached by the required 2/3rd of the members including some PDP members who do not want to be mentioned for now.

In his place, the Member representing Pengana Constituency in Bassa LGA, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda was duely elected as Speaker to replace the former Speaker Abok Ayuba.

In his remarks, the new Speaker Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda said he was humbled by the confidence that 16 of his colleagues including some PDP members reposed in him to lead them at this auspicious time promising to be fair, just and patriotic.

He assured the Governor that the House will collaborate with the Executive and the legislature to serve the people of Plateau by ensuring that there is good governance, security, peace and infrastructural development among others.

Sanda also said that all pending bills which have suffered undue delays in the House during the former Speaker will recieve proper legislative action as the State needs to make progress and deliver the dividends of democracy to the electorate.

While receiving the new Speaker, Governor Lalong said the House is totally autonomous and capable of determining its leadership at any time without any external interference.

He expressed confidence that their decision is the best for the State because they have clearly shown that they are on the side of the people and will not sacrifice legislative duties for which they have taken an oath to perform, on the altar of political ambitions.

The Governor said ” as a House, you are the ones who know why you had to change your leadership at this moment. However, this kind of event is not new to the Plateau House of Assembly where leaderships have been changed in the past. Nobody comes to the House as a Speaker, but the members donate such privilege to one of them as first among equals. That is why those who have such privilege should do their best to carry their colleagues along and work for the benefit of the people and the legislature”.

The Governor advised the new Speaker to be focussed and humble in discharging his duties with utmost diligence and respect for all members as well as a commitment to work for the success of the Government.

He assured the new House leadership that he will support them and continue to work for their success being a former Speaker and one who has championed the autonomy of the legislature by being the first to implement it in the country.
