Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong on Wednesday 2nd September 2020 received the outgoing General Officer Commanding, 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Gen. Nuhu Angbazo who paid him a farewell visit at the Government House Rayfield Jos. General Angbazo appreciated the support of Governor Simon Lalong, the Government of Plateau State and that of the people for his successful tour of duty in the last 2 years. He commended Governor Lalong for his efforts as restoring and sustaining peace in Plateau State which has attracted more development and investment. Responding, Governor Lalong described the outgoing GOC as a professional and diligent officer who committed his time in tackling insecurity in his area of jurisdiction. He said the State will miss his services. Also speaking, the Acting GOC Brigadier Gen. Musa Danmadami said he will follow in the footsteps of his predecessor in working with the Governments of the five States under the division to maintain peace and security. NORTHERN GOVERNORS FELICITATE WITH SENATOR KASHIM SHETTIMA AT 54
The Northern Governors Forum is felicitating with its immediate past Chairman, Senator Kashim Shettima as he turns 54 years. In a message to congratulate the Former Borno State Governor, Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Plateau State Simon Bako Lalong described Senator Shettima as a pragmatic leader who has continued to serve the nation diligently. Lalong said “we celebrate you today and recall your excellent leadership of the Northern Governors Forum which enhanced unity, fight against insecurity, agricultural development and diversification of the region’s economy. The Northern Governors Forum has congratulated Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State over his election victory at the Supreme Court. Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Plateau State Simon Bako Lalong in a congratulatory message to Governor Bello, said the victory is an affirmation of the mandate of Kogi people entrusted on him which he should work hard to justify. He said “the Supreme Court judgment affirming your election victory gives you an opportunity to settle down to serve your people and fulfill their aspirations without any distraction. The people have already reposed their confidence in you and are looking up to you for the dividends of democracy”. Lalong assured Governor Yahaya Bello that Governors of the 19 Northern States shall continue to avail him support in all ways possible to ensure that he succeeds. He also called on the people of Kogi State to rally round the Governor and put behind political, religious and ethnic differences in order to create the right atmosphere for the Government to fulfill its mandate. The Northern Governors also urged Governor Yahaya Bello to continue to play his part in the task of finding solutions to the challenges of the region and the nation at large.

CONDOLENCES TO THE MISHIP CHIEFDOM AND THE PANKSHIN/KANKE JOINT TRADITIONAL COUNCIL
It is with great Sadness that I learnt of the demise of the revered Long Miship and acting President of the Pankshin and Kanke Joint Traditional Council Nda Wesley Mullak (lll).
Nda was a remarkable King who dedicated his life to the betterment of the people of Chip Chiefdom and the wellbeing of others within his domain without discrimination as to their status, ethnicity or religious persuasion for about 44 years while on the throne.
He devoted his Life and worked tirelessly for the improvement of the life of his people.
Nda’s wise Leadership Counsels and graciousness will always be remembered.
On this sad occasion, on behalf of my family and the people of Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam Federal Constituency of Plateau State, extend our sincerest heartfelt Condolences to the late Monarch’s immediately family, the Miship Traditional Council and Community, Pankshin Local Government, the Pankshin and Kanke Joint Traditional Council and indeed Plateau State over his demise.

The Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JED) has commenced mass metering of its customers, the company’s Head, Corporate Communications, Dr Friday Elijah, has said.
Elijah disclosed in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Jos that the company had the capacity to meter every resident of the city.
“People who want to be metered should go to any of the JED offices to apply for one.
“Once applicants make the necessary payment, installation will be made within 10 days of payment.
“We are here to serve you and if there are issues of any form concerning metering, we encourage our customers to report to us,” he said.
He, however, warned people to desist from illegal connection and vandalising the company’s property.
The official said some offenders had already been prosecuted, and warned that any one caught would be punished accordingly.
GOVERNOR LALONG CONDOLES DEPUTY SPEAKER AHMED IDRIS OVER DEATH OF SISTER.
Plateau State Governor and Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum Simon Bako Lalong has commiserated with the Deputy Speaker of the House Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase over the death of his elder sister Hajiya Aishatu Idris. Lalong in a condolence message described the late Hajiya Aishatu as a good woman who was a very dependable sister to members of her immediate family and others within the community as she engaged in acts of charity, mentoring and advocacy. He described her death as a big loss to the family, particularly to the Deputy Speaker who derived a lot of comfort and counsel from her during critical moments of his career. While asking the Deputy Speaker and members of the family to accept her departure as the will of God, the Governor called on those who benefited from her love, mentorship and benevolence to extend same to others as a way of honouring her memory and ensuring that her legacies endure. He also prayed God to granny her soul eternal rest and grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

The sterling leadership qualities of Rt Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, the member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives was in the spotlight on Friday 28th August, 2020 as Plateau State Chapter of the Radio and Theater Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) honored the quintessential lawmaker with their prestigious ‘Humanity Award’ in recognition of his people centred representation as a federal lawmaker in the past one year that he has been in the National Assembly.
Presenting the award at a well attended ceremony at the National Film Institute, Jos Chairman of the association said the choice of Gagdi to be honoured with the award was necessitated by his people oriented representation in the provision of dividends of democracy, which has impacted positively on his constituents within his short stay at the National Assembly, and further accentuated by the indisputable evidence of his efforts at advancing the course of humanity through adequate representation in appropriate quarters. Adding that RATTAWU in Plateau state is also a beneficiary of the lawmaker’s magnanimity.
RATTAWU is a recognized body of media and cultural workers, which was established as the 25th affiliate trade union with the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) on first November 1977. The body comprises Radio and TV presenters, producers, film distributors, workers in Music industry, Arts Councils, operators of cinemas and allied services amongst others.
Present at the event were the Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Sale Shehu Yipmong, the Rector of NTA Television College, Dr Bananas Gbam, the GM of PRTVC, Mr Jeftha Jackden, Director of Culture and Hospitality as well as the Permanent Secretary of the the Ministry of Tourism and Culture. Also in attendance were representatives of Hon. Maitala Jingir, member representing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, the chief of Igala in Plateau State and the Zonal Director of NTA.
All the speakers at the event extolled the progressive spirit of the lawmaker, and encouraged him not to relent in serving humanity in whatever capacity he finds himself.

Gagdi was today at the residence of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase to commiserate with him over the death of his elder sister, Hajiya Maryam Idris who died on Thursday 27th August 2020.
Gagdi prayed God to repose the soul of the deceased and make Jannatul Firdaus her final place of abode. He commiserated with the Deputy Speaker over the monumental loss and urged him to accept it in good faith.
He acknowledged the deceased supportive role in the political and moral life of Rt Hon. Maje, and appreciate the devastating blow her death could cause the entire family, but maintains that God never makes mistakes.
Gagdi was also at the residence of Late Elder DG Fompun to condole with the family over the demise of the Chairman, Plateau State Civil Service Commission.
Gagdi who described the deceased as a quintessential civil servant who had contributed immensely in the development of Plateau state public service, said the death of the septuagenarian is not only a loss to the Mwaghavul nation, but a great loss to Plateau state, and the vacuum created cannot be filled in the near future. He said the story of Plateau State civil service cannot be adequately written without significant mention of the late DG Fompun.
Gagdi prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable lost, while urging them to uphold the good legacies he has left behind, by being upright in all their undertakings.
In his usual respect for elders and senior citizens of Kanam and Plateau State, Gagdi was at the residence of Mr William Audu Wokyit, a retired senior civil servant of Bogghom extraction, and one of the pillars of the unity of Kanam local government area for a courtesy call.
The lawmaker said his heart is gladden by the opportunity to visit the elder and find him in high spirits. He said visiting people who have sacrificed the most productive part of their lives in the service of their fatherland is a way of identifying with excellence and a challenge to those still in active service to serve without blemish.
Gagdi urged the elder never to relent in providing wise counsel to those in active service to the nation.
GOVERNOR LALONG INSPECTS WORK ON COLLAPSED BRIDGE IN QUAANPAN; APPRECIATES FG INTERVENTION
Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for its intervention in the repairs of collapsed bridges and other infrastructure on Federal Roads in the State.
Governor Lalong was speaking during an inspection of on-going work at the Sabon Gida bridge in Quaan pan Local Government Area Council, one of the Federal Roads affected in the State.
Lalong said he was delighted with the quick intervention of the Federal Government following his appeal to Mr. President and a personal visit to the Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola in Abuja where he sought for immediate intervention.
He said “I am very happy with the level of work on-going on this bridge in Sabon Gida which links Plateau and Nasarawa State from this axis. This unfortunate damage has caused untold hardships to our people where in some cases, bridges have collapsed and some portions washed away. When I took the cry to the Federal Government, they assured me that something will be done and I am here to witness it.”
Plateau State Commissioner for Works Mr. Pam Botmang said the State Ministry of Works has been working with the Federal Controller of Works in the State to ensure that the work is carried out seamlessly. He said the State has also provided palliative measures to ease movement while the Federal Government carries out major work.
The Federal Controller of Works Plateau State Engr. Usman Magin explained that some of the problems are associated with old infrastructure, increased rain and desilting which changed the water course leading to the damages. He said some of the old bridges will be replaced while others will be fixed.
