As Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid el-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan fast, Prof. Dame Nora Ladi Daduut, LKSJI has warmly felicitated with the Muslim Ummah on the Plateau and country at large. Her message was contained in a press release made available to News Reporters.

Prof. Nora Daduut said Eid el-Fitr was an opportunity to reflect on the tenets and principles of Islam as well as extend love to the vulnerable members of society as taught by Prophet Muhammad SWT.

She further made a Clarion call to the Muslims to use the opportunity to pray and help the State attain sustainable peace and unity of Purpose, noting that “peace is possible when we work together as a people with a common destiny.”

Further more, Prof. Nora advises that all measures and guidelines set by WHO and other health agencies to prevent the spread of Covid-19 must be strictly adhered to in order to achieve good and stable public health.

The press statement reads in part…”On this auspicious occasion of Eid el Fitr, I extend warm greetings and best wishes to my fellow citizens, particularly to all Muslim brothers and sisters from our dear zone on the Plateau, Nigeria and abroad.

PRESS RELEASE

TOTAL LOCKDOWN AND OTHER RESTRICTIONS REMAIN IN FORCE DESPITE SALLAH PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

In his address of 17th May, 2020 to the citizens of Plateau State on the update of the total lock down over COVID-19 pandemic, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Simon Bako Lalong, KSGG, reviewed some of the guidelines.

Notable among these are the fact that the lock down will resume from midnight of every Sunday and be relaxed on Wednesdays 12 midnight.

The Governor said, “THIS WILL HENCEFORTH BE THE PATTERN UNTIL FURTHER REVIEW.
” IN OTHER WORDS, THE TOTAL LOCK DOWN IS RELAXED ON THURSDAYS, FRIDAYS, SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS; WHILE MONDAYS, TUESDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS REMAIN TOTALLY LOCKED DOWN.”

In line with the foregoing therefore, it is pertinent to remind citizens of Plateau State that the total lock down resumes at midnight of Sunday 24th May, 2020 till midnight of Wednesday 27th May, 2020 irrespective of the Public Holidays declared by the Federal Government as a result of the Sallah celebrations.

Therefore all and sundry are by this statement, enjoined to remain indoors except those on essential services as violators will be prosecuted.

In like manner the public is hereby reminded that the curfew imposed by the President and Commander In Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR between the hours of 8.00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m. is still in force.

Furthermore, it is now an offence for anyone to go out of his or her home without a face mask as those who default will be prosecuted and sanctioned appropriately.
In furtherance to the directive of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Members of the State Executive Council, Heads of Agencies and Parastatals and other Senior Civil Servants have been deployed to various points to ensure total compliance.
Inter-local government borders remain closed while entry and exit routes into the State remain shut to all persons except those so exempted.

To be forewarned is to be forearmed. Let us continue to work together to contain the spread of Corona Virus in Plateau State and save lives!

EID-EL-FITR: YIPMONG CHARGES MUSLIMS UMMA TO INTENSIFY PRAYERS AND BE LAW ABIDING.

Plateau State Deputy Speaker and member Representing Dengi Constituency, Rt Hon Saleh Shehu Yipmong congratulates Muslims faithfuls on the successful completion of Ramadan fast making the Eid-El-Fitr

Rt. Hon. Saleh Yipmomg while Felicitating with the entire Umma, admonished them to obey government stay at home order and other medical protocol to cushion the effect in the fight against the ravaging covid-19 pandemic in the country. He urged all Muslims to observe the Eid-El-Fitr at home to avoid overcrowding thereby violating the Physical distancing guidelines; instead, they are encouraged to observe sermon with their families as it’s a way to slowing community transmission of the virus and not forgetting to always wash their hands and the use of face mask at all time.

In his goodwill message, Hon Yipmong reiterates that Eid is a day to cheer and to laugh with all your heart. It’s a day to be grateful to Allah for all of His heavenly blessings on us. He prays for the light of the moon to fall directly upon all and Allah blessings and His guidance will continue to direct every desire of the faithfuls on this day.

He further urges the Muslims community in Plateau state and Nigeria at large to always extend love to citizens of other faiths so as to strengthen inter-faiths bonds and peaceful atmosphere as our development as a people depends on it.

COVID-19/EID EL FITR: HON. (ENGR.) AMURUDU DONATES PALLIATIVE AND SALLAH PACKAGE TO CONSTITUENTS

As part of his contribution towards cushioning the effect of threats to means of livelihoods caused by the fight against COVID-19 on his Constituents, Hon. Engr. Usaini Amurudu the member Plateau State House of Assembly Representing Bokkos Constituency has presented food items to Constituents.

Hon. Amurudu donated 20 bags of 100kg maize and 20 bags of 50kg rice. He maintains that the items should be given to the targeted group which are the poorest and the vulnerable groups in the Society. Amurudu also strongly advised against using ethnicity, religious background, party loyalty, and other sentiments as yardstick for consideration.

Receiving the items, the Saf Kulere and acting Chairman Bokkos Traditional Council, Saf Lawrence Aizat who led 5 District heads to the occasion Applauded Hon. Amurudu for the magnanimous gesture and promised to judiciously distribute the items to the targeted groups. The traditional ruler also calls on good spirited individuals and organizations to come to the aid of the people at this trying times.

In a like manner, Hon. Amurudu donated 21 bags of 50kg rice and 3 live cattle to the Muslim ummah as they prepare for the commemoration of Eid el Fitr. Receiving the items on behalf of ummah, the JNI Chairman of Bokkos, Alhaji Mansur Saleh Hassan appreciated Amurudu for the donation and show of love. He prayed to God to continue to bless Amurudu and guide him right.

In their separate remarks, CAN chairman represented by the CAN Vice chairman Cat. Simon Malan, Representative of the Community Chairmen, Mr. David Matawal(Naira and kobo), Prince Hailey Adanchim applauded Hon. Amurudu for coming to the aid of the people at this material time. They enjoin him to sustain the quality representation that he is known for to the benefit of Bokkos Constituency.

Recently, in a bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Bokkos Constituency, Hon. Usaini Amurudu had carried out awareness campaign to enlightened the people on how to adhere to preventive measures against the pandemic and distributed hand sanitizer, liquid soap, Bucket taps to Traditional Council, Religious Organization, Security Agencies, Community leaders, Youth bodies, Women Associations for onward distribution to the members of the public for efficient utilization.

The councilor Representing Lobiring Ward of Barkin Ladi Local Govt, Hon Emmanuel Chollom JP Distribute Palliative provided by the Chairman of the Local Govt Barr, Ezekiel Mandyau today for his constituents.

The items include 8 bags of maize, 8 bags of Rice, 8 bags of beans and 8 bags of Garri. While distributing the items, Hon Emmanuel Chollom JP said the items are a token that he was able to get for them, that the times are hard and even govt does not have money because of the effect of Corona virus on the economy.

The honorable Councillor admonish the beneficiaries to always pray for leaders and to fervently pray for the pandemic to be over so that life can return to normalcy. He then said that the palliative is meant for the vulnerable and those who got should do well by extending it to others that have nothing so that God will bless them through such actions.

The beneficiaries were full of thanks to the Councillor for delivering the items to them in full measures and on time, they also used the opportunity and thanked him for his several Interventions during Burials, weddings, and in terms of sickness.

They prayed God to bless the young Councillor and for bigger caps for him in future endeavors…

The Plateau State Ministry of Youth & Sports Development has taken over the affairs of the Plateau Youth Council (PYC) upon expiration of the 3 year tenure of the State Executives and other elected Officer.

The Ministry said the move became necessary as the current situation was neither envisaged nor captured in the constitution of the Youth Council hence the creation of a lacuna.

You will recall that the current Executive Committee of the Plateau State Youth Council was elected and sworn into office effective 22nd of May 2017.

Based on the Constitution of the Youth Council, the tenure lasted for 3 years. However, The outgoing Executive Committee of the council could not conduct an election due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The current situation was neither envisaged nor captured in the constitution of the Youth Council hence the creation of a lacuna.

Consequently, the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development had a series of consultations with the Ministry of Justice and other key stakeholders with a view of finding a solution.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development in exercise of its power has invoked the doctrine of necessity thereby taking over the affairs of the youth council until the Covid-19 Pandemic is over. When the pandemic is over the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development will not waste time in bringing out modalities of putting in place a new Executive Committee for the council.

While thanking the outgoing Executive Committee for their services to the youths of Plateau State and wishing them the best in their future endeavors, they are expected to kindly handover all council properties/assets in their possession to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development within 48 hours please.

Plateau Youth Philanthropist,Comrade Pius Hoomen , has called on the Muslim Ummah to always be guided by lessons of the Holy Month of Ramadan even after the spiritual exercise.

Hoomen in a statement made available to newsmen in Jos   to mark the Eid-el-Fitri celebration  also said in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Plateau State i call on all citizens to obey the laid down laws outlined by the State Government to end the spread of the dreaded Covid 19 virus .

“I appeal to Muslims in the state to be reminded that all Eid praying grounds across the State shall be closed to all worshippers.”

 “This is line with existing ban on all large public gatherings in tandem with the directive of  the President-General, Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs His Eminence, Sultan Mohammed Abubakar that all muslims should suspend congregational Eid Prayers and pray at home.”

Hoomen who hailed Gov Simon Lalong for his efforts at stopping the spread of COVID 19 appeal to  Muslims to    abide by the regulations for not more than 50 persons in Mosques .

“They should constantly  wash their hands with water  and  use hand  sanitizers and  also social distancing. “

I call on all citizens of Plateau  to support Gov Simon Lalong at all times .

GAGDI DISTRIBUTES #5 MILLION, 550 BAGS OF 20kg RICE TO CONSTITUENTS

In his characteristic philanthropy and responsiveness to the plights of his constituents, Rt Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, the member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency has distributed #5 million cash to the less privileged, physically challenged, widows and orphans in his constituency as palliatives to cushion the crunchy fangs of the coronavirus pandemic they are faced with that has devastating effects on world economy.

The lawmaker who had reached out to his constituents and social media activists a fortnight ago, specifically targeted the less privileged this time around, given their peculiar situations.

Beneficiaries of the palliative who are drawn from the 58 state electoral wards across the 3 local government areas comprising the PKK constituency, were picked without recourse to religious or party affiliations.

Distribution of the palliative were done at the headquarters of the 3 local government areas, with the local government council chairmen of Pankshin and Kànke in attendance respectively.

The visibly elated downtown beneficiaries were full of praises to the lawmaker for remembering them at this difficult moment and prayed God to reward him according to His riches in glory.

Gagdi said regardless of his position as their representative in the National Assembly, it is his intrinsic characteristic to help anyone in need, and that if people that are physically strong could scramble for palliative because of the harsh economic reality in the country, it has become incumbent on him to reachout to the physically challenged, widows and orphans in his constituency.

Two physically challenged persons were drawn from each of the 58 electoral wards in the Constituency were given 10k cash each, as well as a widow and orphan in each of the wards. This was attached with 2 bags of grains to each each of the 58 electoral wards of PKK.

In the spirit of the Sallah celebration coming up tomorrow, the lawmaker distributes 400 bags of 20kg rice as to the Muslims within the constituency.

All APC Exco at LGA, ward Party Chairmen numbering about 87 got #10,000 each.

Some Political stakeholders in the Constituency who are Muslems also benefitted from the lawmakers gesture tending to assist them in the Sallah preparations.
